If I give the party xp for the routed rust monster (and assuming an even treasure split), that makes the difference to push Kiplyn over the line to 4th level thief. Sure, why not, I'm willing to recalculate!

Willie will level up on his Thief side no matter how you split the treasure.

Dame Simonetta and Wilbur are on track to reach lvl 3 as Fighters, giving the party some additional offensive power!

Bilfur is more than half-way to level 2.

Dougal unfortunately has a long way to go, needing 9,000xp for 5th level.

Dame Simonetta isn't particularly interested in the spider ring, and will throw it back into the treasure pool for anyone else who may be interested in it. If anyone else wants to destroy it (or the skull ring), the Dame will be a willing compatriot!

I agree with the "equal split" of the monetary treasure.

Bilfur will detect magic on the staff the next day. He does say, " I cant read this scroll but if it is command words for the staff I would like to know. " Bilfur offers the scroll for someone to read

After awarding xp for the Rust Monster, and double-checking my totals, Kiplyn is at 4,503xp.

He just barely reaches 4th level, by a 3xp margin.

I'll post the rest of the xp totals momentarily. No big surprises. Everybody levels up except Dougal and Bilfur. (Willie only on the Thief side.)

TREASURE AWARDS

The treasure split comes to 1,148gp per character. Of that, 600gp per character is in the form of electrum bullion that can't be easily spent, unless you find the right buyer. @dtspurrier, since you are new, I will mention: Unless you tell me otherwise, I assume all your money gets deposited into an abstract "bank" between adventures.

2004/2004 old xp + 183/183 monster xp + 602/602 treasure xp = 2789/2789 new total xp
He reaches 3rd level as a Thief, rolling 2HD + CON bonus = 7hp. This is lower than his current total, so we just give him +1 hp instead, for a new max of 12hp.

Dougal
4654 old + 175 monster + 1148 treasure = 5977 new total xp
He needs 9,000 to reach 5th level.

Kiplyn
3054 old + 244 monster + 1205 treasure = 4503 new total xp
He reaches 4th level as a Thief, rolling 2+2HD = 12hp. Nice!

Dame Simonetta
3023 old + 367 monster + 1205 treasure = 4595 new total xp
She reaches 3rd level as a Fighter, rolling 3HD = 10hp.

Wilbur
2513 old + 385 monster + 1262 treasure = 4160 new total xp
He reaches 3rd level as a Fighter, rolling 3HD + CON bonus = 13hp.

Bilfur
0 old + 489 monster + 1205 treasure = 1694 new total xp
He needs 2400xp to reach 2nd level.
