Dame Simonetta retreats back the short distance to the entrance of this side-cave. "Undead hobbets!" she warns her friends as she draws her sword and main-gauche.
Retreating back to the @ symbol on the Turn 9 map.

Kiplyn would quickly get sling loaded and fire a stone at the first opportunity.

Willie grits his teeth, and sets to work, setting down Lantern III on the ground beside him and taking up his shield. Hopefully he has time to do this while other hobbets are launching missiles, and will be ready for melee when the undead close in.

Dougal likewise sets his lantern down off to the side and readies his sword and main gauche.

"Watch out for the teeth..." he needlessly warns as he raises his sword back and horizontally into a striking position.

Combat Round 1

Kiplyn uses his quick reaction time to fire a sling shot before the group is overrun. The stone causes minor damage to the undead creature, which doesn't flinch or even seem to notice.

And then just like that, the ghouls close the distance to melee range.

The first undead (the older "original" ghoul, the one that Kiplyn wounded with his sling) takes an unbelievable amount of punishment but finally succumbs to a series of fierce blows from Dame Simonetta, Wilbur, and Willie.

This leaves Dougal to attack the second ghoul (the younger "spawn") with his nimble swordplay, but he fails to inflict any significant damage on the creature impervious to pain.

The slavering creature is all over Dougal! It snaps and claws at him, but he is just barely able to fend it off with his parrying dagger and dance out of its reach.

And so ends Round 1. Any special instructions for Round 2? Or is the plan just to hit hard with your melee attacks? Is everyone on the front line, or does anyone hold back for safety?
Initiative: Party 5, Ghouls 1

Missile attacks:
Kiplyn (sling) 15 hit 1hp

Melee attacks:
Dame Simonetta 19 hit 3hp
Wilbur 15 hit 6hp
Willie 13 hit 1hp KILL (took 11hp to kill it, ghouls are 2HD creatures, and this one rolled well on hit points)
Dougal 1, 4 miss

Ghoul vs Dougal 10, 4 miss

Hit hard, hit fast, don't give it a moment's respite.

Ghoul Battle Round 2

The others miss the second ghoul, but Kiplyn and Wilbur land solid blows. The combined damage from their attacks would be enough to end any ordinary Hobbet.

And yet the ghoul fights on! It retaliates against those who harmed it, lashing out with one claw toward Kiplyn and the other claw toward Wilbur.

Kiplyn is badly scratched but shrugs it off.

Wilbur suffers a deep chest wound! His muscles spasm in terror, and he falls to the ground, helpless and paralyzed!

Uh oh, that didn't go as planned! What next? Abandon Wilbur and make a run for it? :P
Melee attacks:
Kiplyn 19 hit for 3hp
Dame Simonetta 4 miss
Wilbur 13 hit 1d6+1 strength bonus for 5hp
Willie 5 miss
Dougal 2, 4 miss

Ghoul:
vs Wilbur 19 for 6hp, Wilbur's save vs paralysis 1d20=7 fail!
vs Kiplyn 16 for 2hp, Kip's save 18 pass
