Re: The Fourth Adventure

Assuming Wilbur finds nothing else of interest in the snow, he stands, bows to Herself, and says, "Yes, Ma'a."

He will move to take the feet.

Re: The Fourth Adventure

Willie, who is trying to make sense of what he is experiencing, watches in utter bemusement as Kiplyn leap off the sled, and is about to do the same, when a sudden troubling thought enters his head. If Frederick is moving fast from his perspective, he may have no time to dodge the toboggan! And Willie has no idea what the collision will do to Frederick, given the strange physics. He grits his teeth, takes firm hold of toboggan with one hand on either side, leans & heaves to the left, rocking the toboggan up on one rail, and then leans & heaves back to the right, hoping to use his own strength and body weight to rock the toboggan right off the chute and into the snow by the side of the track, safely out of Frederick's way!

Re: The Fourth Adventure

With Wilbur taking the feet, Dougal moves to lift the druid by the front. He checks the wool blanket to see if there is enough that they might wrap the druid in it and pick up the corners of the blanket to carry her.

He glances up at the sun and sniffs the air.

"Smells like good weather coming our way," Dougal mutters to nobody in particular.

Re: The Fourth Adventure

Ursa the Druid is treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Dame Simonetta, Wilbur, and Dougal lift the blanket by the corners and prepare to take her home.

Suddenly the weirdest thing happens: A sort of blur comes shooting up the track at incredible speed! Simonetta, Wilbur, and Dougal hear Kiplyn's voice, sped up to a squeaky-high pitch: "Abandon ship!" The high-speed blurry object exits the track, and as it does so, it decelerates and takes shape as Willie and Kiplyn's toboggan.

Kiplyn spills out into the snow and tumbles head over heels, landing in a heap at Dame Simonetta's feet. He is dizzy but unharmed.

Willie is not so lucky. He gets tangled up with the toboggan and flies 30' through the air. He lands awkwardly in the rocky terrain, has the wind knocked out of him, and loses two more teeth. Worst of all, the toboggan has a bent runner!

Frederick has no idea how close he came to disaster. His makeshift sled rockets down the chute, comes to the jump, and launches higher than you can believe. Frederick holds the tree trunk with one hand, waves his hat with the other, and hollers "Yee-haw!" His hang time surpasses Willie and Kip's mark, and he's still climbing. Up and up he goes on his Yule tree, higher and higher, and years later the children whisper he never came down!

(Just kidding! Frederick is heading for a spectacular crash landing. We'll check in on him in a moment.)
DEX checks to "stick the landing"
Kiplyn 7, pass
Willie 20, fail but I'll give him a Thief skill check to tumble, 1d6=3 nope
1d3=2 teeth

Re: The Fourth Adventure

Dame Simonetta carefully lowers Ursa back down to the ground.

"He's over there", she replies to Kiplyn, "I think he took the fall worse than you, I'll go see to him." She walks over to where Willie is lying on the rocks.

Re: The Fourth Adventure

Willie is okay, just some scrapes and bruises. Perhaps he's a bit disoriented from the space-time glitch.

Frederick flies 10, 20, 30 yards past Willie and Kiplyn's mark. The yule tree reaches the end of its trajectory and spears into the snow like a lawn dart. With a comic "boing" the rider is thrown free, tumbling head over heels in the snow. Frederick pops to his feet and calls: "Did you see that? Did you see?" He plants the tree in the snow like a victory flag and begins trudging back toward the Hill, whistling a happy song about pancakes.

You guesstimate it will take quite some time for Frederick to catch up with you. Do you wait for him?

Re: The Fourth Adventure

Kiplyn watches Frederick complete his run. "Well here I thought we'd done great, that's some jump that is. Where did Mr. Moose?" He looks around while waiting for Frederick to climb back up and wonders who has to tell him they bent the toboggan runner.

Re: The Fourth Adventure

"Flapjackth! Flapjackth! The vortekth! The vortekth!" shouts Willie groggily as he sits up. It is probably unclear what he means by this.

Once shakily on his feet, he gingerly shakes his head to clear it, spits a bit of blood, then goes about searching for his knocked-out teeth, as he is making a collection.

He asks whoever is nearby for help in finding his missing "outside bones" (by which he presumably means the teeth).

At least for now, he's adamant he will not leave until he's:

1) found his teeth
2) found Mr. Moose
3) found Frederick

though as his head clears he may reassess his priorities.

Re: The Fourth Adventure

Dougal eyes Willie nervously, "What in the nine hells is he going on about?"

He insures he has a proper grip on the blanket and looks at Wilbur to see if he's ready to lift.
