Re: The Third Adventure

Our Heroes explore their immediate surroundings, but the results are somewhat inconclusive. All of the cracks and tunnels are twisted and winding, so it's impossible to tell where they lead, without actually committing. Dame Simonetta thinks that probably all of the eastern cracks lead to the same area. Dougal looks for a way to block up the tunnels, but all he finds is solid stone.

Dame Simonetta sees a dozen rat eyes glaring back at her. The "eastern rats" have become aware of the party's presence! Their behavior seems squirmy and rat-like, but they neither flee nor attack. They're just sort of scurrying around back there in the cracks, trying to make sense of the situation with their little rodent brains.

Willie hears the sound of many rats to the southwest, but they don't seem to have noticed or reacted to him. Yet.

Kiplyn, Noh, and Tet are standing by, ready for battle if necessary.

I'll allow Dougal to use his Thief skills here, let's call it a Find/Remove Traps check, to see if he can collapse or block the tunnel. Unfortunately 1d6 = 1, fail.

Rat reaction check = 2d6 = 7.

Re: The Third Adventure

"They don't seem too scared of us, are we sure we want to go this way?" Dame Simonetta asks. "Short of dousing inside the cracks with flaming oil, sooner or later they'll get up the courage to attack. Or we could leave some scattered rations to distract them as we slip past. But I think we should go back and try the western tunnel."

Re: The Third Adventure

For what it's worth, Noh ventures that, in his Druidic opinion, these rats are not of the enchanted, giant, or zombie variety. Just normal rats. Probably they have seen adventurers before, which is why they're not freaking out.
Image should be fixed, sorry about that. Like most IT problems, it was solved by fixing the permissions!

Re: The Third Adventure

Maybe due to some past event, Dame Simonetta is simply a bit paranoid against rats. :D

Re: The Third Adventure

OOC: To clarify, when you say "western tunnel" do you mean A or B?

I checked in with @waysoftheearth and he is fine with whatever party consensus.

Re: The Third Adventure

I meant "A" (because it seems to avoid the rat tunnels)

Re: The Third Adventure

Kiplyn agrees " 'em rats don't seem to want any trouble with us, let's move on. Unless someone thinks we should stick a Torch in the wall here?".

Willie: "Hmm. Well, there might be other creepy crawly creatures down that way. I mean: Not Rats kinds of creatures. But come to think of it I'm not sure. They might all be Burnt. Well, it's worth a try! Let's go see what we see. Oh, and if we do see the rats, whatever you do, don't give them any food!"

Re: The Third Adventure

Noh and Tet agree with the plan. Noh volunteers, "Maybe we can come back here another day, when I've memorized a different spell." His raven Carc gives a squawk of approval.

OOC: Noh has memorized Entangle today. Next turn coming soon. Got to do a little map art...
