Hobbet Heroes of Hornpipe Hill

In a hole in the ground there delved a Hobbet.

Long ago, the Original Hobbet Heroes discovered a vast cave system beneath Hornpipe Hill. Generations of brave young Hobbets sought their fortunes in this mega-dungeon. Some Heroes lost their lives, while others found riches and glory Under the Hill.

But then came the Humans.

These cruel men and women from across the sea claimed the Miskatonic River Valley as their own and drove the Hobbets from their fertile homeland. Broken, the Hobbet people lost their appetite for Adventure and shifted their focus toward survival in exile. Those few Hobbets who still dare to live and work among the Humans are universally oppressed and ridiculed, yet thus far, they have successfully preserved the Secret of Hornpipe Hill from the greedy Humans.

We will be using the latest edition of Delving Deeper (as of this writing, v5 Gamma) with a few house rules. The most significant is the addition of the Druid class. Druids will provide much-needed healing, support, and survival skills as the all-halfling party navigates the harsh subterranean environment. Our version of the Druid class is based on the Delving Deeper magic-user class, but with the spell list of a 1st Edition AD&D Druid.

A few notable house rules:

Hobbet druids may advance to 6th level if single-classed, or 4th level if double or triple-classed as thieves and/or fighting-hobbets.

Fighting-hobbets suffer no xp penalty for low prime requisite in strength, whilst those of superior strength do of course gain the appropriate bonus. Multi-classed fighting-hobbets are limited to 4th level, and those single-classed may attain the 6th level.

Hobbets may always choose to follow the Lawful alignment despite class restrictions. Lawful druids are known as Healers and work to preserve their community in harmony with Nature. Lawful thieves are called Burglars and are considered honest, respectable members of Hobbet society.

Trigger warnings for claustrophobia, acrophobia, arachnophobia, and fear of the dark.

The secret society’s password is “Johnnycakes.”

Who is coming on this Grand Adventure?

Might be worthwhile casting the net a bit wider? I dropped a mention on the DD G+ group, but maybe hit up some of the pbp forums?
