Re: The Sixth Adventure

Skeleton Battle Round 12

Athena's protection wears off after 10 minutes of searching the room, and the skeletons are free to attack.

Our heroes adopt a defensive posture and retreat toward the door. For the most part, the maneuver is a success. Only Dame Simonetta takes damage.

Kiplyn and Dougal fail to escape the skeletons' notice. 3 of the skeletons break off from the group to attack Dougal and Kiplyn!

At the end of Round 12, Dame Simonetta, Bilfur, Willie, and Wilbur have successfully reached the secret door. Dougal and Kiplyn are still inside the room, with the skeletons between them and the door, separating them from their friends! What next?
Skeleton attacks (at -2 due to the Hobbets' defensive withdrawal)
vs Bilfur: 3, -1 both miss
vs Dame Simonetta: 3, 18 hit once for 3hp dropping her to 2/9
vs Wilbur: 0, 8 both miss
vs Willie: 10, 12 both miss (would have hit, if Willie wasn't playing defense!)

Dougal hide check 1d6=3 fail
Kiplyn hide check 1d6=3 fail

How many skeletons break off from the pack to attack Dougal and Kip? 1d6=3

Re: The Sixth Adventure

Dame Simonetta grits her teeth against the pain, and stops her retreat once she is through the doorway to hold her position at the bottleneck where many of us can attack the skeletons who must come through one-by-one (hopefully). It is a moment before she realises that Dougal and Kiplyn have not made it through with the rest of the party!
Hmmm, the plan is actually pretty messed up now. If we bottleneck the skeletons in the doorway they might turn around and attack Dougal and Kiplyn instead! I guess we'll just have to rely on the innate stupidity of the skeletons (that they will continue trying to reach the main group of us). If they do all turn on D&K, we'll have to sally forward to distract them back to us. Unless anyone else has a better plan?

Re: The Sixth Adventure

Kiplyn's eyes widen as several skeletons break off and move towards him. He moves closer Dougal and tries to stay calm and readies his attack. "Enough of these Spider Bones."

Re: The Sixth Adventure

As soon as he sees his comrades in DANGER, Willie rallies to the offensive.

"Attack! Stay together!"
he shouts to the other hobbets near the door.

If possible, Dougal fires off a sling stone before the skeletons can close. If not, then he grabs his sword and main gauche and prepares to fight.

Re: The Sixth Adventure

Skeleton Battle Round 13

The plan goes as well as can be expected: The mindless, lumbering skeletons funnel through the secret door into the waiting one-two punch of Willie and Dame Simonetta. Two more skeletons down!

Willie gets a minor scratch in the exchange, but he barely feels it. The adrenaline is pumping!

Meanwhile on the other side of the door, Kiplyn takes down not one but TWO skeletons with his fancy blade-work!

This leaves 4 skeletons left in the fight: One is in the rear, threatening Kiplyn and Dougal, while the other 3 are pushing toward the door toward Dame Simonetta, Bilfur, Wilbur, and Willie. Potential victory is in sight, but don't get cocky! What are your intentions for the next round?
Initiative: party 5, skeletons 1, a VERY lucky break for our heroes!

Party melee attacks:
Dougal 1, 1, whoopsie!
Kiplyn 13, 17 hit twice for 4hp, 2hp destroying 2 skeletons
Bilfur 7 miss
Wilbur 5, 7 miss
Dame Simonetta 5, 20! hit for 5hp kill!
Willie 6, 13 hit for 5hp kill!

Skeleton counterattack:
vs Dougal 1 miss
vs Dame Simonetta 9 miss
vs Wilbur 10 miss
vs Willie 13 hit for 1hp dropping him to 5/11hp

Re: The Sixth Adventure

Kiplyn does his best to bring down the last skeleton in front of him and Dougal.
