(086) An Eerie Decampment

Karl, Leudigar, Zem, and Fried, each in their own time, suddenly become self-aware.

They alone are sitting in a narrow, misty hall or chamber. Whatever walls there may be are obscured by the limbs of many trees and saplings, overgrown with vines and creepers, that taper together overhead.

It is cool, and not quite dark. Perhaps 'tis a moonlit night beyond the shadowy canopy above, or perhaps 'tis the faerie mist itself that casts the dim, silvery light by which these four see? Whatever, 'tis clear to them that there is a crowded passage which leads out of this cramped space...
Karl, Leudigar, Zem, and Fried. Your next adventure begins... now.

Okay folks, presumably we are now three Veteran (2nd level) fighters and a Strider (2nd level) ranger?

In DD terms Veterans have 2+1 HD and Striders have 2+2. So all told our party has 8 HD. Owing to the "unusual" circumstances, I'm going to throw 8 hit dice and let you guys decide how to allocate them (two dice per player).

Here goes: 8d6=2,2,3,3,4,5,5,6

You'll add your individual adds and constitution adjustment (if any) to whatever dice you get.

Karl remembers they made us drop our weapons. Did they let us keep our armor?
If we do it this way:

2 + 6 = 8
2 + 5 = 7
3 + 5 = 8
3 + 4 = 7

Everybody gets 7 or 8 hp. With bonuses, enough to take a solid hit and keep on fighting.

I'll take one of the 7s'.

Leudigar checks his person and immediate surroundings to see what belongings he still has on him.
This sounds fair to me. I don't have any CON bonuses, but since Leudigar's HD is 2+2, I'll take one of the 8's.

At some point Zem notices the Ranger starting through the bars and listening. He'd snap out of his memories of the shinny coins and dust himself off. "Where are the Elves?"
Fried has the only +1 HP bonus so if he'd be willing to take a 7 we'd both get 8hp ?

Zem and Fried both get +1 HP bonus, which means if you each take the 7, then we all end up with 8 hp. Sorry, Coffee, but after looking at character sheets I think Karl should take the other 8. That gives us all a good starting point.

(In slow motion...)

Karl reflexively pads himself down as he stands, checking for armor... he finds himself to be kitted out in his own well-fitted, mail habergeon. What else has he...?

Leudigar reaches for his...?
Karl, Fried, and Zem are now all Veterans. Veterans have 2+1 HD. So all three Veterans will add one hp to the sum of their two HD.

In addition to that, Fried has 15 constitution which gives him +1 hit point per die. So with 2 HD, Fried adds 2 hp.

Leudigar is now a Strider. Striders have 2+2 HD. So Leudigar will add two hp to the sum of his two HD.

First things first, Leudigar checks to make sure he has his silvered Bleakmass blade, horsebow, and the long knife he recovered from the dead goblin chieftain. Then he checks his pack to see if it contains all of his gear and looks for the sack of jewelry they took from the Medusa lair.
Ah, sorry. Understood now. So in that case...
Karl (2 + 6 = 8) +1 = 9
Leudigar (2 + 5 = 7) +2 = 9
Zem (3 + 5 = 8) +1 = 9
Fried (3 + 4 = 7) +1 +1 = 9

So we all start off with 9HP.

Fried would be 10...
7 +1 (for the 2+1HD) and +2 (for the con bonus) = 10
SO let's go with that everyone has 9 except Fried who has 10

Ahhh! Yes, sorry, Fried would get +2 per the two HD. Sorry. A bit slow lately for some reason.

Then...

Karl (2 + 6 = 8) +1 = 9
Leudigar (2 + 5 = 7) +2 = 9
Zem (3 + 5 = 8) +1 = 9
Fried (3 + 4 = 7) +1 +2 = 10
