Re: (053) Moonshine

Olaf shrugs his shoulders, "The devil or the deep blue sea is what my grand pappy used to say."

"The ruins could only be a stop gap and not a good one, in any case." The young warrior grunts as he tries to pull the dead warg to his shoulder, "A haven with Elves would be a better choice, but will they shelter us and can we make it there before being hounded down by more of these things? Those are the opposing question."

"My judgement isn't always the best, mind, but having to make a quick decision, I'd say try the Elves."

She lets the coin spin...
Josiane's coin seems to spin for an uncanny duration while the others discuss the pros and cons of the apparent options... will it ever settle one way or the other? she wonders.

The others talk on and on while she stares at its simple glamour; not wanting to miss any minute clue it might belay, and still it continues to twirl.

As it at last comes to its final rolls, Envongr's Owl (Hoot) flutters down to settle on her shoulder--and Josiane knows a suddens flash of insight. The coin, all in a hurry now, falls and shows her the Owl too. She is twice given the sign of the Owl; twice assured she has the wisdom to decide.

Dorgan sees the owl, and the coin, and quickly changes his mind.

"I follow the Miss. Let's make for the woods then. Might be wise ta keep moving even after dark."

Re: (053) Moonshine

Guntram the Thick cracks his neck a few times, thoughtfully, as the council continues... tossing his pouch of beans from one large paw to the other, while Dieter undertakes the gruesome task of butchering a warg. The animals are lean and muscular--all bone and sinew--and smell even worse on the inside than the on the outside!

At Desmond/Mondes' suggestion, Guntram empties the contents into one of his grubby mitts and squints as he tries to count them. He never was known for his figurin'...

"Err... five of 'em," he announces definitively. "Five magic beans."

Ulric, standing nearby, sees quite clearly that there are six dark beans in the fighter's hand.

The sky is beginning to tinge duskward... there might be a hour--or two at the most-- of light left in the day.

Re: (053) Moonshine

Armando regards Josiane's coin with interest as it spins — as if by magic! — in the patch of dirt at her feet. When it stops, he leans in to mark the face on the coin — then looks to the owl on Josiane's shoulder — his eyebrow arching in wonder and recognition.

"To the Wildwood!"

Armando notes that the party recovered from the secret reliquary three items: the staff, the collection of drinking cups (in Gustave's possession, I believe), and the still-mysterious lock box (stuffed in Armando's otherwise sadly depleted backpack). "I suspect these may be of some use to us ere their return to the Sisters, although I confess I haven't a clue how. I wonder if we might not be able to contact the Sisters from afar — using a crystal ball, perhaps? At any rate, our first considerations must be safety and food ... Master Wen, lead the way!"

Highbough scowls and mutters beneath his breath. You'd think he'd be happier to see his own people.

Dieter flashes a rare smile.

"See what happens, Olaf?" he asks. "You should be on that list, too, but word got out you were wounded." He chuckles a bit. "Better impress people getting Ket back from the gobbos, or else you'll have to hire a bard."

And he finishes up his butchering work and mentally prepares for the journey to the Wildwood. Bit of Elvish cooking would go down good, he thinks.

Re: (053) Moonshine

Wen would look up at the Ruins and then at the wounded and the wreckage of the battle and hesitate. But after a while he would smile and say "Well it looks like a fine time for walking, lets put some miles between us and this place. The first likely spot we find we can take a break and cook up some of this meat. Until then the goblins fare will have to do for the hungry."

Wen would get a good look at the land ahead and move off towards to East-North making for the closest source of water.

ooc: Whatever tail obscuring techniques the party has should be used. If after a few miles a shelters valley or copse of trees presents itself we stop and rest for a bit.

Re: (053) Moonshine

Olaf says, "A couple of us need to make tracks to the ruins and open the door to the down below, and then come back and catch up with the rest of you."

"The Goblins might waste some time at the ruins thinking we're hiding down under it while we get further away from them."

Olaf will do just this thing. Once at the ruins he will reopen the door or whatever it was to the underground, toss the warg he is dragging down the steps, then backtrack to the battleground and follow the tracks the other's leave, obscuring them, as best he can as he goes.

The ruins are close, so he should be able to get there and back, leaving good tracks and drag marks, before the party makes it very far...just a few minutes at most.
