Delve the Thirteenth

The orcs hack at the front line, and miss, who then step aside to reveal the massed archers. Franklin is hit during this maneuver, but shrugs off the effect due to his potion of Heroism. A curtain of arrows ploughs point blank into the packed orcs, cutting down nine of them. Only three remain

A lot of dice were rolled, so I will just summarize in the narrative above

Franklin goes in swinging with his magic sword, to mop up the surviving orcs.

Maloof will stand by with his crossbow to target any orc which may break away from the melee and allow him a clear shot.

Being as there are only three orcs, and you get eleven attacks between the two of you, we will say you mop them up. Unfortunately you now have to deal with the giant scorpion that has just appeared in the corridor leading south out of the room, about 20 feet away

Assuming he can get a clear shot, Wiglaff uses his wand of ice on the scorpion, then will join a melee against the creature as soon as he can.

Same for Rhod.

Wiglaff blasts the Monster with cold, but it is so quick it dodges the wand's main cold, being hit by the edge. The frost slows it down enough that Rhod, Aldbane and Franklin can rush the beast and get their attacks in first. Rhod's sword fails to penetrate the scaly armor, but the heroic Franklin and Aldbane's mighty blow pulp the scorpion's brain, killing it. Meanwhile, Maloof and the five henchmen have keeled over. Wiglaff now notices a magician in the main room where the rest of the party was, as if he appeared out of thin air

Unsure whether his friends are dead or just sleeping, Franklin attacks the magician with extreme prejudice! (He uses his best judgment whether to use sword or sling, depending on the distance to his target and whether he has a clear shot.)
