The combination of the slippery oil and burning flames makes the black pudding slide shrieking into the depths

He doesn't let down his guard, though. He fears that the blob may be lurking just inside the ogre room, possibly on the ceiling, and will take his descent very cautiously.

Franklin volunteers to go second down the rope ladder (as he is the lightest, and easiest to pull up in an emergency) once Wiglaff gives him the all-clear. He tucks his dog Sconces into to the shoulder bag that he brought for this purpose.

It looks like the blob scattered on the floor down below and the pieces are slowly crawling back to each other to reform

Agree, let's kill the smaller ones before they can re-form. Aldbane still has five flasks.
