Wiglaff is about to turn to go, then he remembers to check the floor, too, just in case.

Rhod decides to use his sword to try to Detect Metal, and detects a sizeable brass object buried about 2 feet under the sand in the extreme left end of the short passage

Sconces starts digging in the sand (as dogs will do). This gives Franklin an idea. "Do you think there could be something buried under the sand?" He pulls his crowbar from his pack and pokes it into the sand where Sconces is digging. If he doesn't feel anything solid on the first poke, then he will search the room in a grid pattern from west to east, poking his crowbar into the sand every few feet.

Maloof will help Franklin dig (let's dig first where Rhod's sword detected something).

Wiglaff positions his men to stand guard, watching for anyone approaching from the east, while the search is being done.

You unearth a brass lamp, about 2 feet tall. It is dusty from being buried, but there looks to be some writing on it if you cleaned off the dirt
