I think the only unexplored area on this level is now the corridor north of Groth's room (7).

If we head towards the stairs down (instead of the elevator) via rooms 16 and 23, we could check out the corridor north of Groth on the way, then go down the stairs to level 3 afterwards.

I was just reviewing the posts and I think we have good reason to believe that the door in the corridor just north of room 7 contains Groth's manticore.

Doesn't necessarily mean we shouldn't check it out. For one thing: do we trust Groth? maybe he's just saying there's a manticore there in order to protect his treasure? :D

I've updated the level 2 map with some clearer markers for unexplored areas.

There is a small unexplored area in the extreme SE corner of the map.

There's the cardboard box room (28).

And then there's the area past the level-draining room (11). Last time Maloof got level-drained and recovered after an hour, so there's reason to believe it's a temporary effect.

I'm fine with exploring any of the above or proceeding straight to the stairs as Maloof suggested. Just wanted to point out some options for this level!

In that case, I'm switching my vote to head for the elevator room and check out the corridors SE of that location. Unfortunately the most direct route is through the green gas room, so the safest route is probably to double-back the way we came.

Franklin is also in favor of doubling back (the safe way, not through the gas) and exploring the SE corner of the map. After that, I don't think taking on the manticore is completely out of the question. If a few of us chugged our potions (Franklin has heroism or giant strength) I think we could punch well above our weight class.

There is no excitement retracing your steps to the elevator room. Do you take the door on the south east wall, or walk around by the zombie corridor and come in from the west?
