Hey everybody, I've been playing things pretty much vanilla-standard "by the book", but now we are firmly established, and in the swing of things, I am probably going to "gonzo it up" a bit. Hopefully nobody has a problem with it

Since we will have a week downtime, he wants to hire a Fighter as retainer and use some of his money to outfit him fully (if any are available).
Did you want to spend about 4 gold and get a basic fighter, or did you want to spend a random <1d6>*100 gold and try to attract some less common followers?

I'll go the expensive route.

Only thing available is spell scrolls

I think there was somebody in the dungeon on level 2 who made or sold potions

Both Groth the Invincible & Timn the Enchanter sell potions of various sorts! Rooms 7 & 21 on my map:

Should we maybe visit the potion makers on Level 2, then press down to the NW corner of level 3? There are undead there, as I recall, but perhaps we can handle them now? Most of us are in the heroic tier & our weapons should be able to hit them.

BTW, I am working on possible hire for Aldbane. My wife has been unexpectedly in hospital the last few days, so I haven't had the time or inclination to update the forums in depth

Aldbane ends up spending 600 gold pieces, and attracts the following candidates. All of these want a half treasure share

- Yarpera, a tall, intense fellow who calls himself a Psychic Knight. He can only wear leather armor as metal armor interferes with his powers, but he is formidable offensively

- a chain-clad axe-wielding berserker called Hagalyal

- a dark-clad hired killer clad in black leather called Nocir

- Elwayn, an elf savant

- Joe the Fighter, down on his luck

- a mute, 7-foot tall lizardman with a two-handed falchion who has a sign saying he will work for food

Yarpera the Psychic Knight sounds intriguing, Aldbane will hire him and agrees to the terms. He'll also supply any initial equipment Yarpera does not have - a short bow if he does not have a missile weapon, as well as rations, a backpack and a large sack (I'll update my gold once I know for sure what he needs).

Aldbane is fine with the plan to head down to level 3 by way of Groth or Timn.
