He finds no opening mechanism, but perhaps some strong people could force the door up, or bend the bars?

Maloof will attempt to lift the door with Aldbane's help, however he is not in the best of shape and will happily step aside if a more able party member wishes to take his place.

You manage to easily lift the door between all of you. There is a 10' long passage that opens into a 20x40 room, (10 feet to the left of the corridor, 20 feet to the right). A dozen plate armors and shields are hung on the wall, looking tarnished but functional. However, one shines with a slight yellow sheen, making it easily visible.

Fred says "Magic Armor! I want it, so that Nadia and I both have some"

"Let's not be too hasty," Maloof warns. "The first step is to prop this door open so we're not trapped inside."

Does anyone have anything large and sturdy we can use to hold the gate open? If someone has spikes, we could try that. Otherwise, we should get a couple of people who aren't going to investigate the room to hold it up (perhaps rotating between a few people so no one gets too tired).

"The next step will be to investigate this corridor for traps."

If anyone has a 10' rod, we can use it to probe the floor ahead of us. Otherwise, Maloof will get down on his hands and knees and slowly move forward while searching for any unusual cracks or moving portions of the floor.

Yes, you have some spikes to secure the portcullis

Fred refuses to wait, and rushes over to the wall to get the armor. As he picks it up, a big flash of light erupts, and Fred falls to the ground, smoking and unmoving. "Fred!" shrieks Nadia, as he rushes over to check the body

Aldbane waits for Maloof to finish his examination of the floor, then will go in and examine the other suits of armor.

Are there any other obvious exits from the armour room?

Wiglaff will stay at the barred door, helping to make sure the party is not ambushed from behind.
