| Very good. Turn 3.13 unfurls...
The referee dices for a chance encounter: 1d6=1, so nothing. |
[p Man,mail+helm, hand ax,shield,9,8/8]Biratlan[/p], staying low, moves onto the mezzanine passage, followed by [p Man,cloak,cat-stick,open hand,12,5/5]Urtzil[/p], who then begins a guttural chant of his own...
| It likely won't matter, but for the sake of completeness the referee moves to the combat timescale (one minute turns) and dices to see whether Urtzil surprises the zealots or not. 1d6=5, so he has surprise. Any opportunity they may have had to interrupt his spell casting is lost.
Sleep has 24" range, or 240ft at the dungeon scale, so distance is not a problem. Now the referee dices to see how many zealots will be affected. Sleep can affect 4-14 normal types or 1 heroic type but in this case I presume Urtzil is targeting the normals. 2d6+2=10! |
[p Man,cloak,cat-stick,open hand,12,5/5]Urtzil[/p] waves his mummified cat and flicks his handful of black peas over the low balcony, and suddenly the dancing and chanting abruptly stops ! All the cultists, bar the central black robed figure drop senseless to the floor!
"What is this?!" he bellows, incensed that his ritual should be interrupted so rudely. Looking up he immediately spies [p Man,cloak,cat-stick,open hand,12,5/5]Urtzil[/p] upon the balcony."You!" he seethes.
| That was the surprise turn (also known as turn 3.13.1).
Because of the timing issues with play-by-post, I'll allow any other players who wish to do something during the surprise turn to post orders for turn 3.13.1 retrospectively. Otherwise, I'm now accepting your orders for the next combat turn; that being turn 3.13.2. |
