If Serech can move in and attack, he will. Otherwise, he will try to move in and around the foe, if that is possible. If none of that is available, he will keep a lookout at the surroundings so we are not ambushed by others.
Serech leans forward and whispers to Lawerence, "First it was 10 gold each, now it is all our gold? Or a magic item? How would this brigand even know what is magical and what isn't?"
Serech is probably better either guarding the rear or protecting the magic-user - going to the front rank only if there is not another with heavy armor.
