Maloof will use the lantern-on-a-rope we devised last time. He'll keep it dangling just below himself when he searches for traps and attempts to open the door. After the door is open, he'll then lift the lantern up into the space above.
Maloof will climb the ladder, leaving the pile of silver coins further undisturbed. When he gets to the top of the ladder, he won't open the trapdoor yet but instead inspect it for a trap. Maloof is in full agreement with Franklin. He first looks upwards to see if the trapdoor at the top is open. He will then search for traps around the base of the ladder. He'll then prod around in the pile of silver coins using one of his daggers to see if anything is concealed within.
Maloof picks up the broom again and next tries ordering the broom to fly across the room and then return.
Regardless of whether Maloof can determine if it's magical right now, he's going to keep it. After the above experiment, let's head back down the trap door and follow the passage east.
