These books are bulky - maybe two in a backpack

Wiglaff will take a look at the alchemist's table (no touching). He's curious whether the glass & the table surface show much dust, that is, how long it's been since this room was used.

He'll command his men-at-arms to keep the door open & watch the hallway outside while the room is examined.

This looks like a living, working laboratory. It probably belongs to Pres the Imposing

Sadly, Rhod does not find anything magic al in the room. All the ingredients are currently just mundane
