Let's assume the mule costs twice as much to feed as a Man, unless there is good grazing. If there is good grazing, it might cost as little as half as much as a Man to feed him.

Better safe than sorry.

Josiane orders enough feed for two weeks assuming grazing to be poor.

She won't see the poor animal go hungry, and it is going to be earning its keep.

Ulric nods.

"I too know this incantation. Two clever minds might be able to devise such a counterspell even faster, though it still may take a full day or more. We can propose this course to the group."
"Or a sharp blade might sever the chained limb with one swing," muses Highbough.

He contributes his fair share of coin toward Gustave and Josiane's supply run--thanks for handling the logistics, tonneau and doctorx!

They will discuss this as they make their way there.

"What do you reckon?" Dieter asks. "Standard rate, or just a bit more to reflect the 'elite' nature of working for renowned folks such as our selves?"

"Oh, great Ogre Slayer!", Olaf says tongue in cheek, "With your reputation around here, maybe we should make them pay just to accompany you."

Then more seriously the tall warrior says, "I should say, a bit more than standard, but we're also looking for a bit more than standard in the way of hirelings and arms men...if we can find them."

OOC: I thought, maybe, the other group was going to join us at this point, but they are in a pickle at the moment and might not survive it, so...

The Market Square
(Dieter and Olaf)

The two bold fighting Men make their way to the market square and push their way through the crowd. It's obvious that a few folks look their way in awe, and "Ogreslayer" is whispered here and there. But in general they are free to get about their business.

If memory servers them, there are two establishments on opposite edges of the square: the Jolly Noose, where merchants and caravaneers dine and hire and sell, and The Executioner's Axe, where the well-to-do Snorks trade ware and make their business. One is a place for Men, the other a place for Snorks. Hirelings could be found at either.

Where do the pair go looking?

Olaf agrees, without comment. Snorks of various kinds might be cheaper to hire, but he still doesn't really trust them.

Olaf keeps his eyes open and his hand on his purse while in the crowd.

The Jolly Noose
(Deiter and Olaf)

Moving through the market, the pair notice a lot of people complaining about rising prices, tightening belts, and unavailability of desired commodities...

When they step into the Jolly Noose, they immediately notice the place is virtually empty. Dans the thick-limbed, bald-headed barkeep broods over his bar idly, with a washcloth thrown over his shoulder. There are a couple of tables occupied by pairs of merchants who mutter amongst themselves in dire tones.

Apparently, business isn't going too well...

What now?
