Orim follows the other into the room, moving right towards that portal/door.

The Red Baron wrote:"Why go to the trouble of building a sundial underground?" asks Mero.
"Indeed! Perhaps for the same reason one constructs a boat underground." Morin shines his lantern over the patterns on the floor, trying to discern a pattern.

Walfied immediately observes the other two portals are closed doors; similar to the one he has just defeated with Mero's assistance. Chiron and Morin step through the clutter to investigate the pattern upon the floor... it comprises a number of elliptical shapes surrounding the dais at different angles, converging into a single somewhat asymmetric pattern of interconnecting circles with the dais at the epicenter. It looks "somewhat" like a flower's petals...

Meanwhile, Mero observes the ceiling. It is perhaps 9-10ft overhead at the perimeter, but rises to a pyramidal apex some 20ft overhead above the dais. It appears to comprise a dull, bleak stone without feature or aperture.

Chiron attempts to move the sundial just slightly, to see if it's fixed in place or can be rotated.

Chiron strides across to the dais-like feature to examine the (presumed) sundial. Upon closer examination he decides that it isn't exactly like any sundial he has seen or read about. It comprises a 10ft diameter circular "face" with a triangular feature rising from a central slot in the stone--about the size of his little figure--upward toward the perimeter. The narrow upward edge of the triangle has a 1/4in deep "track" in it, such that a coin, if placed atop the ramp, might roll down the slope and into the slot.

His curiosity piqued, Chiron draws forth a silver coin from his purse and places it atop the ramp.

Chiron's purse is so heavy, some of his fellows wonder why the mage need risk the Underworld. None the less, his silver coin rattles down the little ramp, gaining speed before it suddenly vanishes into the coin slot. There is an almost imperceptible silence between it running along and hitting the interior space with a clatter.

Nothing further transpires.
Sully, please strike off 1 sp.

Walfried removes his helm, says "Shh!" for the benefit of anyone paying attention, and bends slightly to listen for sounds from beyond the left-most door.

Orim takes advantage of the silence and listens beyond the right door at the same time.

In the pregnant silence that follows after the last faint echo of Chiron's coin falls silent, Orim and Walfried listen dutifully at their respective doors... Walfried shakes his head, signalling that he doesn't hear anything, while Orim pauses at the right-hand door; with the sharp ears of the underground folk he thinks he catches a low muttering that must be speaking...
Listening checks for Orim and Walfried: 2d6=?, ?

Other dice clattering "behind the screen"...
