He glances back down the line to look for signs -- such as waving or yelling -- of disagreement with his selected course, but barring any of these, Brother Walfried moves to ahead to the right turn & takes a peak around. He sets a more cautious pace now, shield & hammer at the ready, and watching the walls, floor, & ceiling for any sign of abnormalities such as holes, surface changes, more-or-less-than-usual dust.

Walfried traverses the next length of passage as the company march to the corner behind him. Peering about, the Brother sees a plain door faces him, perhaps 20ft away.

Walfried squints down the corridor at the door, clears his throat, then turns to the Boggsman behind him.

"Ask Mr. Boggs if he'd like to sneak ahead & have a listen at a door," he mutters, trying to be quiet.

"Or if there are other volunteers," he continues, studiously avoiding looking at Lemmi, "they are welcome to it."

"Ow could I turn down such a el'quently delivered invitashun Mr Waffried" says Lemmi with a mock half-curtsy.

She strides through the battery of men, dropping the occasional acknowledging side-glance as might a newly elected mayor, then proceeds more cautiously to investigate the portal ahead.

Boggs gestures to his men to keep it down so Lemmi can have a listen. He himself gives the door a once-over for traps or unusual construction.

Lemmi investigates the portal ahead. Far as she can make out, all's quiet beyond.

Lemmi tiptoes back to Brother Walfried and whispers in his ear "S'nothing there wot these ears can determin' boss".

She steps aside to allow the fighters to make the next move.

Walfried stares blankly at Lemmi for a moment, gaping a little, then snaps his jaw shut & gathers his composure.

"Well, then," he mutters, "ah hem -- well done, then."

He advances cautiously to the door & once everyone is formed up behind, he attempts to open it.

Satisfied that everyone is in position, Walfried grasps the handle firmly, then turns it has he gives the door a solid Thump. However; it's significantly heavier than he anticipated, and it barely moves.
