Wendel and Dugel look at each other askance. Neither has a sword, so Dugel simply plonks his booted foot in the doorway. "You better be onto something good," he hisses.
Wendel smothers a wet cough with his handkerchief.
It takes only a jiffy to confirm that there is no handle or other mechanism for opening the vault door from the inside, so Ruffus hurriedly gets about searching the interior for any secrets compartments or hatches...
Meanwhile, there is ominous silence for a minute from outside, before an alarmingly nearby voice says quietly, "They've killed 'em,". "Cut 'em up and put 'em in these sacks, the bastards!"
There is a dull, schelchy thud as something is dropped nearby. They can't be more than 5ft from the vault door!
Ruffus searches mainly with his clever fingers in the semi-dark, under the shelves, in the vault corners, and (1d6=6!) what's this? Click there is a narrow piece of false wall beneath the bottom shelf in the center of the back wall. Rufus quickly slides it open to reveal a 3ft wide and high crawl-space. It's a dark tunnel to who knows where?
"Open it," says a harsh voice, outside.
What now?
