Post attack after shooting arrow Kianna picks up and sheaths her dropped weapon (sword and shield) and keep watch with bow for attack from the doorways, ready to let fly more arrows on the first sign of any monsters.

"Ahhr, there ya be," says Zax upon spying the greenskin horde, adding up the heads and extrapolating to the gold he will soon pocket.

He puffs his moustache and whips a throwing axe from his back, sending it spinning toward the noisy greenskin with a grunt, then plants himself in the passage and winds up his ice-pick for a welcoming kiss.

If there is no room for him in the melee against the goblins charging down the hall, Leudigar quickly takes his new sword to the doorway they came through to watch their rear in case something tries to sneak up on them from behind.

If there somehow is room, he joins in the melee.

Upon hearing the Herald's warning, Dopey pulls forth his blade, and attempts to scramble through the mess-hall carnage towards the cleric.

"To the doorway, the doorway!" squeaks the hobbet, frantically. "Encircle the passage-head, and we'll fight them three swords to one!"

Freid looks around for other exits in the room and moves to stand watch over one of them, just to make sure nothing attacks those at the entrance to the passageway from the rear.

Karl finds a position in the room where he can fight the goblins as they come in but not prevent his comrades from also fighting them. Sword and shield at the ready.

Yelling "To the doorway!" as he runs past Zax, Wetzel retreats into the feast hall, turns, and draws his dagger, joining the ranks surrounding the passage. He intends to hold the opening against the oncoming goblins.

Zax lobs his hand-axe with a grunt as Wetzel dashes by, burying it in a lanky hobgoblin's teeth and knocking him head backward over heels into the other two pursuers. He barely has time to wind up his pick for a welcoming blow before they run him down! There's a small one and a big one. The small one is quicker, but only finds the business end of Zax's pick-axe in his brain sooner, and goes down in a heap. The big one is a noisy, furious lout, and drives Zax back a half-dozen paces under a barrage of shouts and cudgel blows that sweep the whole width of the passage and ding him for 2 hp.
The ref dices for number of pursuers; 2d6 → 3. There are but three--the remainder hang back. There will be no surprise segment.

Missile Segment
Zax: d20 → 15, with FC of man+1 that's at least a 16, which would hit AC 3, so the ref doesn't bother looking into it. d6 → 4, so 4 hp damage.

The ref rolls to determine whether a goblin or a hobgoblin is in the lead 1d6 (odds = goblin, even = hobgoblin) → 6, so it's a hobgoblin. the ref rolls some hp for the first lucky follow d6 + 1 → 2, so slain.

Melee Segment
Nobody has a clear advantage of reach, so the ref dices for initiative: Zax d6 → 6, non-players d6 → 4, so it's Zax: d20 → 16, that is known as a hit, d6 → 4 so 4 hp damage. Is it the goblin or the bugbear? 1d6 (odds = goblin, even = bugbear) → 1. The ref dices for the goblin's hp: d6-1 → 4. Killed.

The bugbear has Fighting Capability of three men, so has three normal attacks: 3 # d20 → [10, 19, 15] miss, hit AC 4, AC 2. Zax is AC 2, so that's one hit. d6 → 2, so 2 hp damage.

So concludes the first combat round.

Having lost two fellows, the ref checks morale: 2d6 → 6, an uncertain result, so check again next round.

What now then?

Shamed by the dwarf's show of bravery while he watched, The Herald charges down the hallway to engage in battle.

Not really clear how far away Zem is but let's assume that he will be heading towards the combat and engage as soon as possible
