Ulric, now full of sandwiches, tracks down Albert.

"My good man. May we make use of your cellar to conduct some business? We can make it worth you while."

OOC: Splitting the coin (2411 sp) into 7 full shares and 3 half shares should yield 282 sp to each PC and 141 sp to each NPC with 14 sp left over which we can use to further fund our recovery with food, ale, and lodging. Ulric does know a spell which he can use to detect the presence of magical energy in items. He will study this spell several times in the morning and use it on some of the more mysterious items such as:

A dazzling silver necklace adorned with a dozen transparent stones,
A strange copper flask,
a rabbit-paw charm,
Sigmund's curved Elvish? dagger (Wibert),
Brigand's brass ring,

If anyone wants anything else inspected let me know.

Absolutely correct. I merely summed up what coin was on hand.

Once the sandwiches have been devoured, hearty pints of ale washed down, and great tales told, the company is agreed that Albert's cellar would be the ideal place to discuss the division of the loot, and for the princely sum of 11cp, the bobbing, run-off-his-feet landlord nervously agrees... probably as much to get the outlandish adventurers out of his common room as for the loose change.

"Io rarely use tha back rooms in any case," he explains, as he trots down a short wooden stair into a cool, dark cellar with a sputtering lantern.

The company troops down behind him to find a rather extensive, cluttered space directly below the common room. Nearest the stair are a row of large kegs and ale barrels, as well as a store of some score or so wine bottles. Further back there is all manner of clutter, and right up the back is a dusty old long table.

"Io'll leave you to it, moi good sirs," says Albert, huffing back up the stairs into his busy kitchen, leaving the company alone in the cellar with the lantern...

"This'll do perfectly," declares Koch with a grin, hanging the lantern on a rusty nail near the disused long table.

Victor, Dieter and Dorgan overturn the long table in a cloud of dust, while others pull up old boxes and crates as make-shift seats. There is room enough for all, and the noise of the common room seems distant and muffled through the floor.
eris wrote:There are also some magical type things...a spell book or magical inscriptions, something like that wasn't there? The magic-user types will want to divide up that sort of loot. As far as I can tell, we didn't recover any magic armor or weapons for the fighters, right?
Olaf has never been noted for his magician-ship.

However, it is true that Ulric does have Flewellen's journal and scrolls. Copies of the runes that tripped the conjuration trap were copied by both Ulric and Highbough.

"O' course we do," says Albert, as the company is passing through the kitchen en route to the cellar. "Best in these parts, oi moight add,".

Albert grabs a great chain of some dozen or so heads of garlic as hands it to Josiane in exchange for 2 silver coins.

Ulric need not wait until morning to study The Exigent Secernment. He can study it now (pushing one of his currently memorised spells out of his memory). Neither can he memorise any spell multiple times. A spell is either memorised, or not.

In any case, a single casting of The Exigent Secernment will last for as long as Ulric continues to concentrate upon nothing else.

Highbough will submit his garrison spear for examination.

FYI -- I have updated the http://odd74.proboards.com/index.cgi?ac ... ge=1#65885Present Company thread so that everyone is shown with their up to date XP total. As things stand, before awarding treasure...

Dieter and Olaf have both attained the rank of Challenger (3rd level fighting-Man). Ulric has reached the rank of Evoker (3rd level magic-user). He can cast 1st, 2nd and 3rd level spells, and can memorise 4 spells at a time. He can also add any two spells of his choice (of levels 1 thru 3) to his repertoire over the next few days.

Gustave and Desmond/Mondes have both attained the rank of Veteran (2nd level fighting-Man), as has Wibert reached the rank of Snipe (2nd level thief).

Highbough has reached the rank of Poltergeist (2nd level warlock). He can cast 1st and 2nd level spells, but (alas his intelligence is 13) can still only memorise 1 spell at a time. He can, however, add any one spell of his choice (of levels 1 thru 2) to his repertoire over the next few days.

It is conceivable that treasure allotment might raise these (or other PCs) further again.

Regardless of class:
2,000 XP is required for 2nd level,
4,000 XP is required for 3rd level,
8,000 XP is required for 4th level.

p.s. Tombowings; I note also that Pelenwin has now accrued sufficient XP for the rank of Armiger (2nd level Templar), but now he has become an NPC.

Blah. That'll teach me to do math on 3 hours of sleep. Sorry about that.
