Very good.

Dieter stands the first watch as the rest of the weary adventurers unfurl their bedrolls and quickly drop into exhausted sleep.

The night sky is mostly clear, with the patches of cloud pushed on ahead of a brisk, chilling wind. The moon is almost full, and so at least there is reasonable good silver-blue visibility. For night.

The wind howls up and down, as do wolves which seem to Dieter both unnervingly near and far... but he never glimpses any of the creatures.

When at last he is so tired and cold he cannot stay awake any long, Dieter wakes Wibert to take the next watch, and tumbles down into his own bedroll on the cold, hard ground.

Before he knows it Dieter is asleep...

Wibert is unhappily awoken by Dieter in the middle of the night.

Dawn is still a long way off... but there is nothing for it. The night is cold and windy, but quite bright with a nearly full moon and a mostly clear sky.

Wibert splashes his face with cold water to shock himself to alertness, and immediately regrets doing so. It really is cold. But at least it isn't raining.

As he finds a cold perch to sit on, Wibert beings to notice the other sounds of the night... wolves howling in the distance... owls hooting... insects buzzing... other unidentifiable chirps and crunches...

... there are still three nervous hours before dawn but Wibert cannot stay awake a moment longer. He notes that Mondes seems to be awake, even though Desmond is asleep. Is the baleful Halfling watching him?

Whatever, Wibert decides and tells Mondes to take the dawn watch and then tumbles back into his bedroll.

Dawn comes.

It is grey and cold, but still. There is a light frost over everything.

Desmond awakes to the most peculiar circumstance of already being up! "Oh, you decided to join us, did you?" mutters Mondes, who has apparently been up for a while.

Others begin to arise and feel the pang of hunger in their bellies, but alas there is no food to be had, and Ket is at least two days march with heavy packs full of silver.

Desmond stumbles to his feet with little grace, still not fully acclimated to the additional weight of another head on his shoulders.

"Oi, I've got a splitting headache..." He darts his eyes over at Mondes as if to indicate the reason.

His stomach grumbles.

"And I'm a bit hungry, too... what I wouldn't give for a nice melon." He gives Mondes another sidelong glance and smacks his lips before packing up what little gear he has and cinching his belt tight.

"Should we try to do a bit of fishing for breakfast?"
