Inside the Reliquary

Josiane repeats Ulric's exertions with the crystal ball, and is rewarded with much the same kind of vision... she has a sense of rushing impossibly quickly across an immeasurable distance, then--for an instant--hurtling downward toward a ring of fortifications in a red desert, and arriving suddenly at the tiny barred window of a baroque cell, looking down at the forlorn figure of a beaten, older, Gustave.

Meanwhile Ulric (and presumably Desmond/Mondes) rest while the remainder of the company right their equipment, shoulder their packs, tighten their belts, and generally prepare themselves to resume.

Outside the Reliquary

The creature Nizzib cranes its neck awkwardly, to put its ear as near as it can to the Reliquary door, and by chance the slanting light falls across half its face and Highbough is taken aback by its sheer likeness to himself!

But then the creature suddenly turns and bolts off up the passage, leaping the stairs four at a time (and missing the trapped step).

| Highbough can possibly pursue or take one shot (subject to initiative)... or let the creature go. |

Seeing as how he is still feeling the effects of jumping off the wall, Desmond takes a break with Ulric.

Wen would opt to rest the turn if his help is not needed.

When Ulric describes his vision, Desmond muses, "Well I think it's tellin' us te get off our arses and go look for him before it's too late."

Once he's rested a spell, Desmond stands, gathers his belongings together, and prepares to move out.

"So we pretty much have two choices, it seems. Do we assume they hid him away here somewhere, expecting the one-eyed fire monster to finish us off? Or do we assume they took him with them past that wolf statue where I met up with you a bit ago? And where's Highbough?"

Highbough continues to keep solitary watch, in case Nizzib returns.

'Desmond's right," Dieter says, rising to his feet and shouldering his pack. "We need to move on and find Gustav. Time is wasting."

And he heads out the door, glancing around for Highbough (but not really expecting to see him, unless the aged elf permits it...)

Okay, Ulric, Wen, and Desmond take a rest while Josiane exerts herself mastering the Queerious Speculem.

Everybody else has their gear all packed and ready.

| The ref checks again for interlopers 1d6...

Wen (previously on 4/8 hp) recovers 1d6=3 hp (new total 7/8)
Ulric is fully fit (8/8 hp).
Desmond (previously on 9/12) recovers 1d3=6 (new total 12/12)

Josiane (6/9) and Wen (7/8) are now the only injured figures; Josiane must rest next turn following her use of the Crystal Ball. |

What now?

| So does this mean we need to spend another turn resting for Josiane? Or what are her penalties if we don't? Not that I'm for pushing on without appropriating time for her to rest... I think we should. Just curious as to what happens if we don't. Maybe we should set a few more to be on guard during her rest and in the mean time take a vote on what we should do next? It would be nice to get input from everyone in the party. Might be that someone suggests something nobody else has thought of yet.

Also, Ways, I assume Desmond needs to mark off one day's worth of victuals from his inventory (as does anyone else who rested for HP recovery)? I'll take that trade for the 3 HP... |
