"Oi," Desmond whispers, "You think that one was meant specifically for us? Those wolf bastards..."

They look back and forth between the west and north passages, listening for any sounds of activity, their heart still beating hard in their throats. Desmond pauses to reflect on that idea and realizes one's heart can't TRULY move up into their throat, as the old tales say, since both he and Mondes feel like that and they only have one heart but two throats now!

He chuckles quietly, breaking the silence.

Mondes glances at his noggin companion to his left and gruffs, "Yer daft. Yer know tha', doncha?"

With the trap fully disarmed, and no sounds of activity coming from the halls, Desmond finally relaxes a bit.

Now that one of the crossbows is at their feet (never mind how it got there), they can easily scavenge the trap for some of the wire and at least one of the small brass pulleys. They will take a moment to gather what they can and stow it away in their pack

| Let me know how much material they can gather and I'll update my character sheet. |

"Well, Mondes, we figure the wolfmen took Gustave, right? Where d'ya think they'd take him? Dungeons? Nyah... abbey's don't have dungeons, do they? But maybe still 'down' somewhere, in a room without windows they can easily bar. There's a staircase just down the hall and to the left we saw when we was first here. But we need a light, we do..."

He starts looking around the lobby. Surly there is an unlit torch in a bracket somewhere nearby. If he can find one, or if he recalls seeing one somewhere nearby, then he'll get it and light it.

With the traps disarmed [p Halfling, leather, short sword, main gauche,9,9/12]Desmond/Mondes[/p] is able to gather up as much of the fine wire as he cares to... up to 20ft per turn spent. With tiny tools he can unscrew one of the pulley mechanisms that was fitted to the crossbow (that would take a turn also).

As luck would have it, there are two half-spent torches mounted on the walls here. He can get either or both, but how will he light one?

REVISED:
Desmond first spends three turns gathering wire and two turns removing pulleys (a total of five minutes).

Then he will retrieve both torches and keep an eye out for more as he progresses. He does not light either of them, yet, choosing to wait until absolutely necessary to do so. If he sees that the passage north by northeast is completely dark, then he will light one of the torches just before going down the passage.

As far as lighting them goes, he has a tinderbox. But he also has Rufus' boon, a compact tinder box for smoking that creates enough flame for lighting a pipe. Hopefully that would be enough for lighting an oil-soaked torch, as well...

| Or is Desmond in the one-minute turn phase, as well? Does that mean he can collect 20ft of wire in a one minute turn? Or a ten minute turn?

If it's just a one minute turn, then he will collect some wire (60ft) and two pulleys, spending a total of five minutes doing so.

If it's still ten minute turns, then his action stands as posted. |

| The game world is ticking minute by minute at the moment. So it's one minute actions, unless you want to have one post from the ref for every ten posts by Dieter and Dorgan ;) |

| i THOUGHT 10 minutes to gather up 20ft of wire was a lot. That's why I decided not to do it; didn't want to spend three 10 minute turns picking up wire and unscrewing screws. So in this case, I'll revise my action, if you don't mind. I'll just append the last post. |

Very good... so [p Halfling, leather, short sword, main gauche,9,9/12]Desmond/Mondes[/p] is now about midway thru gathering up a respectable coil of the gossamer thread...

| Yeah... Unfortunately, gathering the materials takes me out of the post rotation for a few rounds... *sigh* But it was necessary for his idiom. |

| Quick question, WOTE... Is the front door barred or just latched? |

It doesn't appear to be barred or even latched... apparently it is merely closed.
