"It appears we were more fortunate that this fellow. But we have certainly made more than our investment in the map here."

Ulric collects the coins, ring, choker, and letter opener and stores them in his backpack. He briefly inspects the ring to see if it has any runes or similar writing.

While Taines and Ulric cut down the bodies, Anwyn will cut away the webs around the trapdoor and open it to let in fresh air.

While down below, Olaf just lies there...being paralyzed isn't a lot of fun, I don't recommend it to the rest of you. I think Dieter will back me up on this.

Rodrick is going to listen for enemies coming from the stairs below. "How long do you think they'll be out for?" he whispers.

Mads the Fair

Noting Rodrick's shifting focus to the stairs that lead to darkness below, Mads remarks "Strangest thing. I felt a cool breeze coming from," nodding his head in the direction, "down there. Could be trouble." Considering their two unfortunate companions, Mads can only wonder. He shrugs. "I'm no physician."

Anwyn works the trapdoor clear of the tacky webs, frees the bolt that keeps it shut tight, and pushes it open allowing daylight and fresh air to stream into the dingy lair.

She then proceeds to check out the roof top -- a plain stone enclosure some two dozen feet square overlooking the surrounds. The battlements on the south and east side of the tower have collapsed, but otherwise it seems safe enough. Standing here in the mid-afternoon breeze, Anwyn can spy the lay of the land for several miles all about.

To the south and east she sees a thin path winding its way across the plains, and beyond it, the rising crags of the wooded hinterlands. In the west the land is dominated by a boundless, dark wood, and far off in the north she can see the haze of smoke rising above a shadow which must be Ket. The sky is a patchwork of blotchy clouds, which threatens to bring more rain tonight.

Meanwhile, down below, Olaf and Dieter are very gradually regaining the use of their leaden limbs and are able to choke out a whisper of speech with an effort. Perhaps, given time, they will recover more fully...

After her brief inspection of the roof, Anwyn will return to the webby room and see what Taines and Ulric found.

She'll also look for some old cloth to clean off her dagger. Anything on the corpses usable to wipe the blade?

Olaf will move his limbs as he can and gurgle a whispered word of two...none of them memorable, he's just glad to be alive and a bit better off than he was.

"Just prop me up boys and put my sword in my hand." Olaf quotes a hero from an old story...at least that's what his mind is thinking, what comes out might be more like, "Gurgle, urp, errrh!"
