(Gustave and Josiane)
The trader looks Gustave and Josiane over suspiciously, very probably searching for any evidence of a fat purse and finding none, as he packs up virtually everything he has remaining (half of what Gustave requested).
"I ams not a fools, Szir, and ams not in ze habit ofv creditinkg total starangerzzz," he remarks pointedly.
"
Strrranger?" questions
Gustave, somewhat incredulously, "
I am no stranger - I am Gustave", he indicates his chest with a finger in case there is any lingering doubts. "
And Gustave can see his business is done here", he finishes, pointedly pocketing the coin in his hand and turning his back on the trader.
He stands there, steaming slightly, and scratching his stubble while eyeing the scant supplies available at the other merchants in the market, this mission to the hills looking trickier and trickier...

The Jolly Noose

eris wrote:"Of course, it does look like the Snorks are doing well." Olaf comments, "Are they bringing goods in safely?"
"They seems to be doing just that," says one of the merchants.
"Curse their bones!" remarks another.
Dans collects the silver coins put on the bar by
Dieter and
Olaf, and beings pouring another round.

O.O.C: Sorry to be dense, just how much coin in total does the party have to buy supplies? Josiane's current thinking is to get as much as we can delivered to the manse, paying on delivery with a transportation fee included. How much will this cost and can we afford it? Well, according to my notes, the present net cash of the entire company is around 1,200 sp, with the lion's share ear-marked for the Sisters.

"Calmly, friend Gustave," says Josiane quietly to the affronted swordsman.
She adds her gaze to his nonetheless. Do any of the other merchants in the vicinity look to be in a position to satisfy our supply requirements?
If not, Josiane asks the merchant if the goods he can supply could be delivered to the manse in her politest tones aided and abetted by her sweetest smile...

Further to this...
The company collectively pony up the necessary "security" of 500 silver shillings, the Resplendent Scepter, The Innocent Opus, and Ulric's potion. Several of the Sisters efficiently squirrel all this away in a serious looking lock box, and pitter-patter back to the great hall with it.
500sp was given to the Sisters of Mercy, so that leaves the company with a total of 700sp "cash on hand", although virtually all of this is owned by various individuals. The company slush fund is all but skint.

Looking about the market place, Josiane ascertains that the necessary supplies might, just about, be scratched together by visiting all of the dozen stalls which are still operating.
It will be a labour of commerce, and will require silver on hand.

Gustave, suddenly reaching his 'shopping threshold' is overwhelmed by a strong need to be far from the insidious market. He does the only thing left to men in such circumstances, and goes to the hardware store.
There, he enquires of Hans as to the status of his commissioned shield, to the relatively comforting ring of metal on metal and heat of the forge, rather than the pestilent bantering of fat merchants.

Dorgan, bored while he waits for the others to return from their various shopping, researching, and recruiting expeditions, broods about the mansion.
Pondering the sorry state of his coinpurse, he suddenly has an epiphany!
The dwarf will go to each floor of the manse and test the Marrowstone's special "locate object" ability. He will even go down into the larder below the kitchen, although he'll as yet avoid the secret passages beneath the large fireplaces.
