I believe I remember a scene in the books where "Stern" uses a Longbow from the top of wall to harass a blue dragon. (Almost sure it's his death scene).
Correct on both accounts. Sturm used a longbow to get the attention of Kitiara Uth Matar and Skie, her blue dragon. And then she killed him.

That does not bode well. (But I'll take my chances!)

Just off the top of my head, I think Stern would be comfortable using ranged weapons in situations such as: 1. returning fire if fired upon, 2. shooting a dragon on the wing, 3. hunting an animal or magical beast, 4. in mass combat, fighting for a trusted commander or righteous cause.

Let's hope we don't run into any blue dragons! :)

Hi Team, as we're fast approaching Christmas I'm sure everybody has lots to do, and that some of us may be away from the computer for a bit.

I'm going to flip over to "slow mo" at the end of this week (Friday 22nd December) which means: I'll still be checking in and posting, but less frequently than usual, and I won't try to push the game along if players are AFK for the next couple of weeks. I expect to return to regular service around the second week of Jan 2024. Let's see how people are placed when we get there...

In the meanwhile, I hope you all have a safe and fun Christmas and New Year break. ROLL ON 2024 and the 50th Anniversary of Original D&D!!

Merry Christmas, everyone.

WOTE, I think we always expect a bit of a slower pace around this time of year. Starting Friday, I'm going to be off work until January 2nd, all just with three days of PTO because of how our holiday schedule works out. I always feel like I'm cheating a bit when I can use 3 days of PTO to get 10 full days off in a row. But I'll take it.

The plan is to spend as much time as possible in the workshop, finishing up last minute gifts before Christmas and then continuing to get my shop in order after moving to the new house so I can dig into larger projects.

I'll be sure and check in a few times during that period. :)

One of my most favourite gifts of the year, Sully!

Cheers!

Welcome to 2024 all!

OD&D is 50 years old (woohoo!) and so '24 promises to be a big year for the hobby :)

Meanwhile, in our little corner of the internet, we're about to hit the dungeon proper.
Admittedly, progress has been slower than anticipated, but I take it as a positive sign that the preamble areas are worthy of more exploration/development.

Looking forward to pushing on when enough players are checking back/available:

Let's roll
