Desmond bristles at the comments by Pelenwin and Dorgan and is about to pipe up when Ulric speaks. He huffs quietly to himself and, after Ulric finishes, also raises his glass (glasses?) to Mads.

"To Mads, may his axe serve us well."

Desmond takes a long pull from his pint.

Dieter and Olaf each carry 600 silver shillings up to the Concourse and dump them on the floor at the leasing agent's office.

The clerk there is not particularly impressed with having to count out 1,200 silver coins, but painstakingly does so, twice, before signing off a document and handing it and a large key ring of a dozen keys to the pair of fighting Men.

"We will send an agent to inspect the premises in two weeks," the clerk informs them dryly as they head off, keys and document in hand.

Dieter and Olaf lead the way up to number 8 Eagle street to the delightful little manse they have leased.

Eagle street is wide, and smoothly paved. Each properly along it has a high wall, and is surrounded by wide, green gardens. Number 8 is small, perhaps, but equally appointed.

Dieter proudly turns the key in the lock of the broad gate, and swings it open to admit the company to the grounds...

It is... rather magnificent.

A neat little path runs up a gardened hill, by a water fountain, and to the front porch.

The manse itself is in impressive stone structure, three stories high with steep, peaked roofs.

Dieter uses another key to open the grand double doors, and the company streams into their new residence!

Within is a great lobby with polished wood floors from where great passages run to the left and right along the spine of the dwelling. A broad, curved stair ascends over both passages.

The company quickly explore the premises and find the many rooms are high and spacious, with tall windows overlooking the gardens. Each has its own fireplace, and a few have sparse furnishings, but for the main part the manse is empty. In fact, it appears to have been empty for some time, for there is a bit of dust about. The garden, also, is beginning to over grow its edges. But its nothing that won't be cleaned up in a jiffy by the house staff. Who are noticeably absent.

Highbough is delighted to take a stroll in the fresh air after many days in the dark library. The chaos of an overgrown garden is more beautiful to him than a neatly manicured lawn. In particular he is looking for any weeds with known medicinal properties, so that he may instruct the gardener to cultivate them.

He has memorized his new spell of course, as well as The Acclivitous Smaze (and if he gets a 3rd, The Trammel).

"What does he think we're going to do, trash the place?" Olaf says to Dieter as the pair are walking away adding with a grin, "Now Gustave might, but we wouldn't do something like that."

"A good point indeed my aspiring young comrade", agrees Gustave, "Perhaps our learned brethren have a tip or two about killing things that are already dead?", he adds, raising a brow in the vague direction of Pelenwin.

He tips his head conspiratorially toward Olaf and whispers loudly, "And fear not about rent - I will assuredly hold up my end and apologise profusely for my lack of monies at present - expenses have been...well...", he doesn't finish, distracted by an audacious dust mote that has settled on his gleaming thigh plate.
