The once mighty company of Men, Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, and pack animals return to Edhil as quickly as they are able, nursing their many hurts, injuries and sorrows.

The 40 leagues are mostly downhill this time, and at least their is no concern about running short of supplies; what with the fellowship being so sorely diminished.

It takes only four days to scurry back along the Sirannon, ever in fear of a pursuit. But at last the company's fortunes seem to hold, and they return to Edhil battered and beaten, but without further incident...

I will assume a couple of days of rest an recuperation -- everyone's full hit dice will be re-rolled when you next set out.

Norin and Eohild both recovered from their poisoning halfway along the road to Edhil.

Elindir's wounding was severe and he has permanently lost 1 point of constitution (now down to 5).

You may list whatever basic supplies and/or hirelings you wish to secure in Edhil (remembering that it is a town of only a few thousand Men). I will let you know what is (or is not) available. Remember also that hirelings must be paid at least a week in advance, and must also be fed...

Welcome back and Happy New Year, Ways!

What is our budget for resupply? A lone silver coin is all that remains of Sili's starting money...

Assuming he has the funds, Sili will try to hire a skilled stonemason/mechanic, with thoughts of restoring the architectural wonders of Moria to their intended function and glory, starting with the front gate.

Sili might use his 1 silver penny to send a letter to his cousin Fili in Erebor, requesting that he send a chest of silver to Edhil.

Meanwhile, Sili has the goods of poor Hepti under his administration. As he is a selfish fellow, he wouldn't have any problem "borrowing" Hepti's silver...

Goods of Hepti the deceased Dwarf:
Rackpack (1), Bedroll (1), Purse {20sp 19cp}, Waterskin {1 quart} (1), Hand axe (1), 60ft rope (2), Grappling hook (1), Sack, Sack, Torches {3} (1), Tinderbox, Pick (1), Hammer (1), Iron spikes {6} (1).

Alas, poor Fli was slain at the Battle of Five Armies!

But you're right, Sli has no qualms about looting Hepti's possessions and coin-purse.

I was thinking of Sili's younger cousin Fili

Vestri's morale will not be helped any if he thinks has master is just waiting to get his grubby mitts on his coin purse.

Norin laments the loss of his friend and healer, Ymir. Other than repairing his gear and stocking up on food, he is probably OK equipment-wise.

Are there any dwarfs available for hire in this town? If so, in what capacity?

Norin will take the chalice to the local purveyor of fine jewelry and silver to see if they can come to some agreement as to a price for the piece. If possible, he'd rather do business with a dwarf... and he's ever so reluctant to let this chalice go, it must be said, but if it is in order to fund the expedition to go back and deal death out in great waves to the slimy and loathsome orcs, then it must be done.

My apologies, I had forgotten to post the details of the gruesome scavenging. The filthy pile of dead and dying Orcs were searched by moonlight. Some took undue pleasure in tormenting those that lingered... others ended them more efficiently.

Throughout the scabby pokes and packs, grimy sling-bags and gore-stained purses the Orcs had among them...

40 silver pennies minted in Dunland, 5 silver pennies of Dwarf make, and 600 copper pennies of various origins; mostly Dunland, Rohan, and the North.

A surprising collection of hardwares including; wire, pliers, hinges, rivets, buckles, belts, rope, tack, nails, hammers, screws, horse-shoes, chisels and stakes; the consumables being of Orcish manufacture, while the tools are mostly of ancient Dwarf make.

Also present are assorted chunks of a dark ore, which collectively amount to 2 stone in bulk. The Dwarves reckon it to be an iron ore of some sort, though Ardenbard is convinced it is not of the regular sort. Far too dark, he says.

The raiders carried with them a veritable banquet of edibles for the Orcish palate; sour onions, pickled lizards, chickens' feet, eye balls, hard grey bread, foul smelling cheeses, bitter Orcish drafts, and various strings of hard, salted meat of who knows what source?

And of course, their arms; black maces, axes and wide, curved swords in the main, as well as some crooked spears and daggers. A gruesome lot of gear to be sure, but worth near to 90 silver pennies by weight of metal. Selling such Orcish works will not be easy in Edhil, however. Perhaps in Dunland, where Men are said to be less scrupulous?

The great chalice can be sold to a junk merchant for 300 silver pennies. Doubtless a dwarf would pay twice as much, but there are only Men here in Edhil.

There are no Dwarves about. Messages would have to be set further afield to hire any.
