Sili's intention is to run all the way back to base camp unless the tactical situation changes (man down, trolls break off pursuit, etc).waysoftheearth wrote:Do Sili and Norin continue the flight, or turn to face the enemy upon the stair?
The large but clumsy Trolls move at the same pace as the Dwarves, so unless circumstance dictates otherwise the Trolls will have the opportunity to attack the Dwarves' backs each round they flee.mushgnome wrote:Sili's intention is to run all the way back to base camp unless the tactical situation changes (man down, trolls break off pursuit, etc).
Uh-oh, that's not good... we are quite a few rounds from the Gate, no?waysoftheearth wrote:The large but clumsy Trolls move at the same pace as the Dwarves, so unless circumstance dictates otherwise the Trolls will have the opportunity to attack the Dwarves' backs each round they flee.mushgnome wrote:Sili's intention is to run all the way back to base camp unless the tactical situation changes (man down, trolls break off pursuit, etc).
The Elves move quicker and could escape, if desired. However, Lomeluin the Elf cannot shoot without risk of hitting the Dwarves because he is farther down the stair and shooting upward at targets behind the Dwarves. In other circumstances he would be able to move and shoot without penalty.
If you wish to read about pursuit, see Underworld & Wilderness Adventures, page 12.
At least 4 or 5 rounds to the gate at a flat run.mushgnome wrote:Uh-oh, that's not good... we are quite a few rounds from the Gate, no?
Are the trolls pursuing single-file?
Norin's head nods up and down, but it's hard to tell if that is because he agrees with Sili or if it is just from running down stairs.mushgnome wrote:Huffing and puffing down the stairs, Sili turns to Norin and remarks in Khuzdul: "What do you think, Brother, shall we turn and make a stand? Our plan to draw them onto the stairs is a success!"
