Franklin volunteers to scout ahead. This will have the additional benefit of keeping his dog Sconces away from the ape.

I think it is worth trying the wizard first.

The level 2 wizard (Groth, who's just around the corner) or the wizards down on level 3?

Either way it's worth a shot, and would save us having to travel all the way to the surface.

My vote is to check with Groth on the way out, but don't head down to level 3 just on the off chance those wizards would buy the ape. If Groth doesn't want it, proceed to the surface & find a zoo. Or taxidermist? Or a manager of gladiatorial games? Hopefully somebody is interested...

Aldbane agrees with Wiglaff as well.
Aldbane the Cleric (Level 5 MV 6" AC 2/3 HD 4 HP 18) plate +1, shield+2, helm, silvered war hammer, sling, staff of healing

You arrange for a plethora of you to carry the ape, and retrace your steps to Groth. He is delighted with the ape, and offers you 2000 gold for the ape
