Tirandir sticks to his plan of retreating to the (left, lower, south, unguarded, whatever) archway, then taking another shot from there. Once hand to hand starts he intends to retreat into the corridor slowly hoping to expose any combatants to being attacked from behind from the hidden party members.... Malaveque hangs back in the shadows with his scroll of charm person and dagger ready. If a fighter gets double-teamed by lizardmen, Malaveque will try to charm one on the following round. Otherwise, he will only use the dagger if he needs to defend himself and try to avoid combat.

If he has the range and the line of sight to do so, †delwynn will unleash his Sleep spell at the enemy, focussing it on the lizard men if possible.

If not, he maintains his watch on the rear and concentrates on keeping out of the way...

The crowd of reptilian brutes give a scathing hiss as they spring up to rush at the offending company, skirting the smear of burning oil. Several smaller figures (kobolds) are scattered by their larger kin, and take cover behind rocks and the great cauldron. The kobold formerly enchanted by Mot gives a piercing squeal as it leaps after and attempts to throttle the retreating magician.

The company looses a volley of missiles in the last moments remaining them as Mot slips defensively between the fighters -- pursued by a raging kobold. Jaras stands and fires, Tirandir dashes away before turning to fire, while Gaspard and Dram enter the chamber through either door arch to fling stone and dagger. Jaras hits the injured lizard, but doesn't stop it, while Tirandir and Darm each hit half-starved specimens, and these go down and are tramped under the charging press. Gaspard's sling stone pocks off a lizardman's skull without hurting it.

Just as the kobold and the marauding wall of lizardmen are about to crash into the precarious looking line of adventurers, Aedelwynn appears in the arch behind Dram and completes his sorcerous utterance causing four of the lizardmen and the kobold previous charmed by Mot to drop into a slumber mid stride!

Only two of the largest brutes win through to smash into Jaras and Dram (Tirandir is nowhere to be seen by now, and Vangelis and Malaveque are behind the arch ways), but their attacks are fierce; Jaras is smashed near off his feet by a brutal mace blow, and brave Dram is eviscerated by powerful crocodile jaws before dropping dead.

Jaras, Tirandir, Gaspard and Dram's missile attacks are rolled first, (1d20=13,13,4,15) and result in three hits! (3d6=3,5,4) Jaras hits the injured lizard. Tirandir and Dram hit new targets. Ref rolls hit points (2d6+1 yields only 3 and 4 -- scrawny specimens, the pair) Both are slain.

Aedelwynn completes his spell and affects (3d6=13) 13 HD. Lizardmen are 2+1 HD, so soak 3 HD each, thus four lizardmen are affected. Mot's ex-charmed kobold soaks the remaining HD.

Only two of the eight lizardmen complete the charge and attack (random targets, 1=jaras, 2=dram, 3=gaspard, 2d3=2,1) Dram and Jaras. (1d20=14,19). Both our heroes are hit for (1d6=6,3) 6 and 3 damage respectively. Dram is slain, and Jaras is reduced to but 1 hp.

A brutal round of combat indeed...

What next gentlemen?

OOC: Oh bugger....

Tirandir would draw his shortsword, quickly peer out from the archway and see Dram go down. Seeing that the combat hangs in the balance he would throw discretion to the wind (go 7 wisdom) and charge the Lizardman who wounded Jaras hoping to prevent yet another death.......

Jaras can choose to either attack, or withdraw defensively (meaning he would not attack, but would be harder to hit himself). Which do you mean SMK?
