Return to Ket
Account of Expedition
Caine, Ulric, Mads, Olaf, Dieter, Victor, Anwyn and Rodrick set out from Ket in search of adventure and treasure.
En route to the nearest ruin, they soon rescued Taines from a Hobgoblin patrol, and then found their way into a dank dunjon beneath a ruined tower.
Rodrick fearlessly met his end, drowned by a Waterwierd, but the party was soon joined by Krystin an errant Knight Elf-maiden. With the water-spirit's treasure looted, the company faced more Hobgoblins at the ruin and Flewellen was captured by these as he arrived on the scene.
The company then staged a rescue, freeing Flewellen and destroying the Hobgoblin workforce that was constructing a tax-stop along the road to Ket. Woefully, Krystin was slain by the Hobgoblins in the fighting.
After overnighting in the ruined tower, the company buried the two fallen templars, and were joined by Padrig, another Elvish Knight, apparently following after Krystin's footsteps.
When the company returned to Ket to cash in their loot, they were joined by Gustave, who fetched some very agreeable prices for the gems and jewellery they had to sell.
Padrig returned Rodrick's prayer book and effects to the Temple of Thuul, while the remaining loot was sold for coin -- barring a plain gold ring and a brass scepter which were identified as artefacts of an elder age. These were kept aside, while the coin were divided among the remaining members of the company.

For treasures recovered and for returning The Book of Solemn Contemplation to the Temple of Thuul;
284 XP to each of Caine, Dieter, Mads, Olaf, Taines and Ulric.
142 XP to each of Victor, Anwyn and Flewellen.
54 XP to Padrig.
42 XP to Gustave.
XP for the plain gold ring and the brass scepter have not yet been allocated.

Sheltering from a chill night in a boggy copse, the company were rudely awoken in the middle of the night and beset by a terrible Swamp Shambler. The 8ft tall thing seemed near impervious to harm! It nearly slew Mads in a single hit, laid Taines the Dwarf low, incapacitated Gustave in one fell blow and almost entombed Olaf within its barked carapace. Only by the concentrated effort of more than a dozen party members was it torn asunder with Olaf being exhumed in an unconscious state.

Entering the narrow catacombs beneath the ruined gatehouse via the canyon door, Padrig and Caine were surprised at the first intersection by a 7ft tall shaggy ape, which jumped to attack. Caine was at once knocked unconscious, and Flewellen jumped in to drag him clear. But the eager fighting Men to the rear unleashed their missiles in the narrow passage, and Padrig was struck in the back and Flewellen slain by friendly fire! The monster was then defeated by Andaros and Thorgim.

The battle started ill with many wounded by missiles, poor Padrig slain, and Gustave incapacitated.
