Re: Primordial Ooze...

7 strength could work for a Hobbet fighter; not sure it's immediately equal to a 14 though?

The third set is less interesting, for sure, but does have high strength and no major weaknesses... overall some good options for you to consider.

Re: Primordial Ooze...

Merias, your rolls are:

3#(7#3d6)
9 14 14 12 8 7 10
15 14 16 5 8 8 9
5 14 10 9 10 12 8

Have a read of the character generation 2017 guidelines, and post any questions or thoughts here. I'm sure there will be a few old hands in your timezone who will be happy to assist or, failing that, I'm here to help (albeit from the other side of the planet).

Flightcommander, your new rolls are:

12 7 7 8 9 6 5
13 7 10 7 6 13 7
8 12 6 12 10 11 8

...looking rather sore. But don't forget about the "evil twin" rule...

If I read the rules correctly, the STR adjustments are the same whether your STR is 7 or 14. However, I now see your point as I'd be taking a serious XP penalty with a 7 STR fighter.

Which makes the decision easier! I've decided to go with a Magic-User. I'll take set 2 for rolls and use the first 12 as my roll for gold, leaving me with:
11 STR
16 INT
10 WIS
12 CON
08 DEX
09 CHR

My custom spell, for your approval.

The Antecedent Chronicle - Upon casting this spell, the mage touches an item for a period of time. Upon the time period elapsing, the mage learns information about the last being, living or unliving, to have possessed the item. Information to be learned, depending on amount of time touched, include: race or type (e.g. elf, orc, golem), general condition (healthy, injured/damaged, dead), location (direction and distance).

Thanks! Here is what I am thinking:

Illusionist:
S: 9 I: 14 W: 14 C: 8 D: 12 CH: 10
SP: 70
I like this because with a wisdom of 14, he gets +2 to each of dex and
int for purposes of experience, which the class description states is
cumulative, for a total 15% prime requisite bonus.

This would also be a decent cleric, albeit with a 5% xp bonus.

Fighter:
S: 14 I: 10 W: 9 C: 10 D: 12 CH: 8
SP: 50
Not a bad fighter with the 5% xp bonus, but light in the purse.

Any other ideas I am missing?

Re: Primordial Ooze...

Very good Sully.

We'll need a name, a race and an alignment before determining your starting languages.

Assuming "Man" for race, you will probably want Gothic and Illiberal as your basic two langs.
With 16 intelligence you will have six additional langs with the first one presumably being literacy. I will dice for the other five based on your alignment.

In terms of starting spells, you will begin play with six spells in a spell book. Two of these spells will be detect magic and read magic; one will be your custom spell; I will dice for the remaining three spells shortly.

I will also permit you to begin with spells scrolls from your starting purse; a 1st level scroll for 50 sp, a 2nd level scroll for 100 sp. Scrolls are one shot.

Re: Primordial Ooze...

Very good Merias.

I think you may have inadvertently switched the order of your illusionist Dex and Con scores?
That aside, be aware I'm planning to update the Illusionist to DD5 sometime, but the changes will be minor. One thing that has arisen from play testing is that the ventriloquism spell should not get unlimited use.

Otherwise, it looks like you have some interesting options. Possibly, you may wish to consider that the group currently comprises a cleric and a fighter, and sully is adding a M-U. I'm pretty sure we will get at least one more player in the mix too. A couple of fighters are always welcome, but the party composition is entirely up to the players.

I did indeed, thanks. So here is what I'll start with:

Re: Primordial Ooze...

Looks good Merias.

We'll need a name and alignment for your dwarf... meanwhile, I'll get you set up with a goldenrod character sheet.

You can shop for starting equipment; there's a nice equipment list in the back of DD5 booklet one (p45) which might be useful :)
