Re: Primordial Ooze...

What weapons can a hobbit throw?

Do javelins cost the same as spears? Can he sit around and collect stones?

The classic Hobbet weapon is: the sling (1 sp).
Yes, they can also throw stones by hand (6" range).
Yes, they can pick stones up ad hoc.

Hobbets can employ (small) horsebows, and (small) crossbows. Greatbows and arbelasts are too large for them.

Two javelins can be had for the cost/load of one spear. However, they are generally too long to be usable by Hobbets.

Re: Primordial Ooze...

Brother Alfwin (11 intelligence) has a language dilemma; he speaks Gothic (man) and Illiberal (common), but his third option could be either Empyrean (Lawful) or literacy. If he chooses literacy, he won't know Empyrean (Lawful) and thus not be able to read clerical scrolls without the aid of a Comprehend Languages spell or a Helm of Comprehending Languages (he would still be able to memorise clerical spells by prayer, however). If he chooses Empyrean (Lawful), he will be illiterate and thus would likewise be challenged by clerical scrolls. A perplexing choice. (FWIW, all the Temple prayers would be spoken in Empyrean so this seems the more logical choice).

Cousin Rigatoni speaks Lilliputian (Hobbet) and Illiberal (common).

Brother Herald speaks Gothic (man), Illiberal (common), Empyrean (Lawful), Dogeral (goblin), is literate, and knows one random lawful languages: 1 # d19 → [18] thus: Unicorn.
