Torban, Dieter, Desmond/Mondes, Dorgan, Ulric, Josiane, Gustave, Wen, Armando, Guntrum, and Rufus are here.

Having gained entry into the fortified abbey by deception, our intrepid company are now inside the walls in force, and preparing to explore.

They have not gone unnoticed however, and the lamentable bell continues to clang in the distance...

The passage is only wide enough for one fighting man to advance abrest, though two robed sisters could stride side by side, and two men could possibly set spears and hold a position side by side.

Wen the Elf follows after Desmond, dividing his candle host so that two flames dash down the Prioress's passage, while the other pair continue to illuminate the main, north-east passage.

Torben, Gustave, Dorgan, Josiane, Dieter and Rufus all follow closely after Desmond and Wen in the tight passage.

Armando watches the considerable crowd and clamour of the armoured company heading one way, and decides instead to take a look down the west passageway, quietly like...

Ulric and Guntrum remain in the lobby, for now.

The North East Way
(Torban, Dieter, Desmond/Mondes, Dorgan, Josiane, Gustave, Wen, and Rufus)

The bell clangs on.

Desmond/Mondes spies a dark, narrow passage to his left (by which the Prioress and Sister Meena departed) that seems to end in a closed door that blocks progress directly straight ahead -- deeper into the abbey. However, as soon as Wen's dancing candle flames flit down the passage, it is clear that there is also a sharp right turn at the end of the passage (some 40ft away). Dorgan believes the Prioress turned right.

Meanwhile, the passage that follows the outer wall north-easterly direction seems to continue on uninterrupted, until it curves out of sight.

The West Passage
(Armando)

Armando, meanwhile, chooses the route less travelled, and slides easily and silently into the dim passage that follows the lie of the outer wall westward.

The passage is 5 or 6ft wide, as is the one opposite, and is sparse and clean. Not 10ft away from the lobby Armando is pleased at how quickly the noise of the company seems to have attenuated (even the bell seems to be getting quieter) -- but is less pleased with the minimum illumination. "Dim" would be an exaggeration... in truth it is nearly dark ahead. Armando thinks he can see a shadowy shape some 40ft ahead that might be a door.

What now?

Ulric pulls his lantern from his pack and lights it quickly.

"Let's not split up again," he says. "Not too far on your own Armando; bad things happen when you are on your own. Let us make a rear guard, Guntram."

Once he has his lantern lit, Ulric moves up the northeast passage to join the rest of the company.

"Follow the nun, then?" Desmond asks nobody as he turns down the corridor to the left.

He'll cautiously approach the door/corner when he gets to it, peering around the corner once there.

If no danger presents itself, Desmond will remove his steel cap and listen at the door while Mondes keeps an eye on the hallway.

Wen would endeavor to keep a least a few of the candles well in advanced of Desmond/Mondes and send the fore two around the corner before the other two arrive.

Dorgan is happy to move up to the front rank.
