Re: (084) The Churchcroft Cellar

Lemmi remains, more still than the stones themselves and trying not to listen to Orim's last life-force draining from him.

Only if the wyrm pursues will she move a whisker.

Once the entire party (minus Lemmi and the fallen) has passed through the door, Boggs will attempt to slam it and spike it shut, hopefully preventing pursuit by the dragon.

Re: (084) The Churchcroft Cellar

The company flee madly into the digging room; Boggs slams the door after Walfried then high-tails it after the rest as the dragon burst through the door behind him!

The company flee for their lives, back through the sundial room, the twisting passage and into the boat room where they finally pause to catch their breath. By this time they can hear nothing but their own pounding hearts. It seems the dragon has given up the chase.
So it's a wee foray into the pursuit game:

According to the DD, pursuit speed is four moves per turn. Assuming the players are fleeing directly back the way they came, one pursuit turn would therefore take them through four doors and almost all the way back to the entry. Doors and corners are possible deterrents to pursuit.

Okay, so four doors. 4d6=1,1,6,3. So it will pursue through one door, but no more. Excluding the door into the dragon room was burst down and not shut.

A rest and fresh torches are probably in order by now...

Meanwhile, in the dragon's lair, Lemmi finds herself all alone...
What does Lemmi do with this rare opportunity?

Re: (084) The Churchcroft Cellar

Walfried asks Boggs to make sure the door into the boat room is secured. Then he takes a head count of everybody, including the Boggsmen, to see who's missing. Once that's done, he sits down heavily & pulls a wooden holy symbol from beneath his tunic, where it rests on a cord. He holds it tightly in his hand and closes his eyes, murmuring prayers under his breath.
Walfried takes a rest.

Marching order updated to account for fallen comrades (though not yet for missing Lemmi).

Chiron sits down to rest and checks the oil level in his lantern, adding more if needed.

Lemmi raises, an eye, an ear...where is the beast? What other exits are about? Is there any hint of Dragonhorde about?
Did she witness the wyrm leaving the room? If so can she peek down the corridor to see if it is out of sight?

The dragon room

Lemmi has observed the dragon pursue the company out of the chamber, and vanish from sight down the passage. Sounds of the pursuit have receded.

The huge, diamond-ish shaped chamber enjoys a dim, blue-ish illumination, not dissimilar to starlight. There is a great funnel rising overhead from the center. Below it, there is also a 40ft wide, diamond-shaped hole in the middle of the chamber, encircled by a dozen tall columns. As for exits, with a cursory glance about Lemmi counts six; five portals (including the broken one the pursuit left via) and one open archway.

The boat room

Boggs secures the door and everyone collapses for an emergency rest. Walfried's headcount finds Mero, Orim, Lemmi, and two Boggsmen unaccounted for. It is a sore blow to the aspiring company, but at the least some have survived to forewarn others of the serpent's lair!

The company is reduced from thirteen to eight: Walfried, Morin, Chiron, Boggs and four Boggsmen remain.
Redbaron, Merias, if you wish to scramble new PCs, please post a request to join

Meanwhile, for those remaining: Please strike off a set of torches folks.

What shall be your next orders?

Re: (084) The Churchcroft Cellar

Lemmi moves swiftly, and as silently as possible to the diamond-shaped hole and castes a glance at what lies within. She keeps a wary eye toward the escape portal taken by the others, and the wyrm.
