Had an awesome day. Took my son to his first baseball game. Got to see two home runs. It got up to about 84 degrees out (F), but we were in the shade the whole time, so it was perfect. He sat through the whole game and asked great questions and never got bored.

He asked if we could go to a game on his birthday in July.

I already have tickets bought.
That's great!

Cool! Way cool!

Happy birthday guys. Wow... some of us old codgers have been "hanging out" here for almost a decade. Super nerds or what ;)

Down here, we have "crigget", but good to hear you had a great day ehiker. Same goes Sully :)

Hey team; as you've probably guessed, I am going to have to park this baby.

The work commitments keep on coming, and I can't see it letting up for the foreseeable. The short version is: I've been entrusted with some pretty broad responsibilities lately, and there's typically only one shot at these things. It's sink or swim. I want to give it a decent shot and I can't realistically do that and give Hinterlands (among my other commitments) the focus/time it needs to do it properly. The best thing I can do right now is to park my refereeing.

I don't think anyone will be too surprised, given the limited time I've had to put into it this year. The drawn-out wind-down period aside, Hinterlands has been a hugely successful game from my perspective. I've road-tested a whole bunch of rules variations though a sprawling, organic campaign that far exceeded its original scope. For that, I am grateful for everyone's participation over the past decade; a huge effort from all concerned and, in the big scheme of PBP games, a pretty big deal. My only regret is that I wasn't more diligent about properly organising all the content that got created along the way. That too will have to be ear-marked for a future project.

In the meanwhile, I am open to someone else taking over as ref to keep any part of the game/setting ticking along, here or elsewhere. In that event I could assist with a hand over/transition. Bueller?

So now might be a good time for any stand out recollections re: what worked well or not so well with the PBP format, and/or for the game in general. I.e., what are the key things to remember for the next any one of us tackles a PBP?

Thanks Team :)

Totally understandable Simon!

I sugest we create a new thread for player comments and recollections so it's in one place as you get time to look it over.

Good idea Mike; I've created a topic here.

Sorry to read this, but I'm not awfully surprised. <sigh>

I've really enjoyed this game and your Reffing, Ways. I hope, when you have the time and inclination, that you revisit DMing a PBP and I hope I'm able to be part of it.

Hi Simon,

Sorry to hear you're taking a break, but I understand completely that "real life" should always come first. When you decide to start back up again someday, I will be enthusiastically waiting to return to the fold. You are an amazing DM. :)

I have to agree with what's been said already. I always get up in the morning looking forward to this (even on days I don't post).

But if you can find the time to come back some day, you'll find us waiting and eager to resume!

I just went back to the ODD74 boards to see when I first started playing in one of your games, Ways. It was 2011. Seven years of great gaming. Rest assured I'll wait patiently until things free up for you so we can keep going!
