Zem speaks"look for the rangers marks, I believe the left passage returns us to the Mess Hall and the right to pantry and the main passage."

But I'm confused because the first map was this (below) clearly Mess Hall is the way out.

That would left then by what we think we know. From Dark Passage left to Mess Hall then right to kitchen. My confusion is regarding the Mess Hall, are there 2 Mess Halls? Or does this Mess have the Bleakmas Tree?

Freid turns left. That's what Zem said, and he's following the directions of the others.

I don't think this would be the Bleakmas Tree Hall. That is much further ahead...IIRC. I think this is the one where we killed the really obese Goblin/Hobgoblin.

I think that must be it, there is more then 1 mess hall. I do know that beyond the Bleakmas Tree Mess Hall there was Barracks so if we find that Barracks (100ft long) then we are on track to to way out ,or at least the way we came in. We do not want to go into the Trap room where I fought the Bugbear.

Fried leads the way to the left, and soon comes into a small mess hall. There is no bleakmass tree, nor any ornaments of such here; only the piteous body of the hag which Fried ran through with his sword earlier in the day. There is a door about 40ft opposite the entry and, on the right hand wall, the top-bottom split door that you recall leads back into the kitchen...

What now?

"Right!"Freid whispers back and leads the way to the split door. He stops and checks to see if there is any light coming from that room. If the others are still there there should be...

If there is light he'll peek into the room to see who is there, if the room is dark he'll turn to the others and whisper, "No light is a bad sign. Be prepared for the worst."
Freid will cautiously enter the room after pushing the split door open with his shield.
