Re: (080) Where a Hobbet Goes

Leudigar calls for quiet and listens at the passage curving down and to the right, hoping to hear some sign of activity.

If he hears nothing, he offers, "Nothing. I hear nothing ahead. And I'm unsure about going further into this maze under such circumstances. Do we turn back and try the other passage? Or try the door?"

Zem offers a whispered opinion."No sign of the others, let's give the door a listen"

Re: (080) Where a Hobbet Goes

Dopey is firmly against heading down deeper until the remainder of the party is located (after this criteria is met, descent would be acceptable to him).

He examines the edges of the door for leaking light; deeply inhales through his nostrils to scent; examines the floor to discern weather a quarter-circle of dust has been cleared by its swing.

"Head back and try the other way." Freid whispers, "We need to find the others and I don't think they came this way."

Re: (080) Where a Hobbet Goes

Those listening for clues catch little between the snatches of conversation beyond distant moans that could just as easily be the wind swirling through the tunnels as a troll yawning. Dopey sees that the dirt and grime is largely to the side of the passage; a sure sign this route is used frequently. When he inhales, he catches the trace of an odor not unlike... fish?

Re: (080) Where a Hobbet Goes

If the party decides to open the door, Dopey issues a warning:

"Move the torches back a pace and keep them sheltered behind your backs. It sounds like there's some turbulent air currents behind this door (possibly a river?), and it would be a disaster if our torch went out."

He is unsure of what to make of Freid's counsel: it is not wise to blunder haphazardly about in hostile territory, however it may be better to keep the goblins guessing than to sit tight and wait for them at a location were they have already been alerted to our presence.

There is no tinkle that suggest moving water; nor damp nor chill...
Who shall try the door?

Leudigar makes sure everyone else is ready and then tries the door, whispering, "Best to see if there are enemies here than to leave them behind us..."

Re: (080) Where a Hobbet Goes

The door is firm, but Leudigar budges it with hip and shoulder, forcing it to open into a dark, stuffy room beyond. The sour odour of dry fish and half-bad meats roils over the wary adventurers like smoke pall. The chamber within is long, and lined with shelves that would harbor a mighty trove of stores and supplies were it full. But even in the dim shadows it is apparently that most of the galley/pantry shelves have been ransacked. The few supplies left scattered about are on the nose; it's hard to imagine even goblins would countenance eating the stuff. At the far end, mayhap 60ft distance, a glimmer of yellow light twinkles through a crack in the darkness...

Re: (080) Where a Hobbet Goes

Leudigar tries to breathe through his mouth to avoid the stench. He points at the door on the opposite side of the room, "Might be something worth our time there."

If nobody disagrees, he moves forward towards the door, studying the foodstuffs along the way to see if they look more like goblin-type foodstuffs or human-type foodstuffs. If goblin-type, he wonders aloud,"Why would goblins ransack their own food storage?"
