It is practically impossible to find unless you have someone with you who already knows where it is?

Just don't panic because your life is in the hands of someone named Dopey

Precisely. As for the defintion of "practically impossible" see: http://ddo.immersiveink.com/#secret-doors

And, in the context of the wilderness exploration game, replace "thieves" with "rangers".

"I, er, assumed when you, ah, traveled for adventure, eh, you, um, carry a lot of stuff..." Faengol trails off. He brightens up quickly though.

"I would be happy to help search for this place. Shouldn't be too hard; I understand goblins smell really bad."

"I also could add to the watch at night. I love to be awake under the moon and stars!"

Re: (076) Off the Beaten Track

Another chilly night passes, with Menno the Fighter and Faengol the Elf Medium, then Fendrel the Fighter and Dopey the Hobbet Fighter, then Gerthrude the Medium and Gunter the Dwarf Fighter taking the watch while the others sleep. They hear bugs buzzing and the far off howling of wolves during the night, but nothing so near as to be a concern.

When the cold dawn comes, our company rise to scratch their chins and they pan for ideas. They've put in two good days marching, in about the right direction so... in theory... the goblin fastness should be somewhere hereabouts. Only problem is, their ain't so much as a goblin footprint to be seen!

The weather ahead looks like it might be brighter than yesterday; perhaps good conditions for some ridge-top spotting?
The referee assumes Flightcommander's watch rotation as (almost) everyone would be eager to get what rest they can.

The ref then dices for an encounter during the second night: d6 → ?

Weather for the forthcoming day: 2d6 → 7 so clearing.

I have heard some debate about what to do next, but no decisive instructions. Please declare your intent for the upcoming third day in the Hinterlands...

The Herald votes for finding the highest nearby point and looking across the horizon for signs of Hezmog.

Too bad the gobbos didn't take the bait when we lit the campfire last night...

Re: (076) Off the Beaten Track

I agree that we should keep the same watch rotation, and that we should have a cold camp from now on. Gobbos are more night-dwelling than we, so they already have the advantage at night.

Re: (076) Off the Beaten Track

"If Leudigar says we're going in the right direction, then we're going in the right direction," Boggs asserts in stubborn defense of his friend. While the scouts explore the ridgeline for a glimpse of their destination, Boggs remains in camp with the slow and weak. He scrambles up a nearby boulder, tree, or slope and demonstrates basic climbing techniques such as ascending and descending a rope, belaying a partner, etc. to anyone who is interested in practicing these skills. Some of his friends may be new to dungeoneering, and he figures, better to learn the basics in a calm environment than under the pressure of a life and death situation! Boggs believes in knowledge and preparation, and will often take advantage of lulls in the daily schedule to share his survival skills with anyone who will listen.

Re: (076) Off the Beaten Track

Leudigar indicates his intention to scout ahead and look for the goblin fortress from the nearest and highest ridge lines. If Faengol wants to join him, his *keen elfin eyes would be welcomed. Leudigar leaves at first light, in order to make the best use of daylight possible.

Re: (076) Off the Beaten Track

Gunt was fine with the watch and marching order, so didn't comment. He sticks to camp keeping an eye out for anyone, or thing, that might try to creep up on the group.
