Re: (073) Wind and Sand

Dieter presses his attack, although this time with his feet on the ground (or deck).

Torben

Torben continues his slide down the sand and deftly boards the ship in an attempt to breach the elemental's defenses with his silvered spear.

Re: (073) Wind and Sand

Helmut humbly accepts the blessing upon the blade of Seyal, squinting into the cutting wind as Josiane mutters the words and aware of the melee occurring just behind him. This done, the blade of Seyal positively glows with the spirit of Thuul, imbued by The Saint herself! He cannot miss!

"FOR THUUL!", yells Helmut , as he launches himself at the demon of air, placing himself to protect Josiane's flank.

Armando lurches for cover from the howling winds near the hull of the huge vessel.

Re: (073) Wind and Sand

Ashtad feeling way out of her league, stops firing any more arrows as she sees it is no good. Ashtad instead swaps to her spear ready to help if possible and keep out of the way of the air elemental. Ashtad will look around the ship, if possible where the elemental come from for anything to aid the battle.
Ashtad did say in the attack post she was firing one arrow, must have gotten excited and fired a few more

Re: (073) Wind and Sand

Armando and Ashtad seek cover from the blasting winds behind the hull of the ship, while Ulric stays back and Desmond instead weasels a way between the broken timbers into the hull from the other side... where he finds a momentary reprieve from the noise a sand. The cavity below deck is dim and low and crowded, but almost enough for a hobbit, and seems dominated by a 20ft, leaden... pancake? with a web of timber struts around it.

Meanwhile, the fighting continues outside!

The cruel sands punish our heroes, and despite their best efforts to surround the air spirit, its superior mobility and insubstantial form allows it to avoid almost everything hurled at it. Perhaps sensing Thuul's presence it makes a beeline for Josiane and punches her in the chest with an unbelievable spear of sand and air, driving her back! Only at the last is Dieter able to slash his energised magic sword through it, causing it some actual harm.
ARGHHH! My epic combat post for turn three just got swallowed

The short recap is:
I added +1 to the damage Highbough did last turn due to his being an Elf. Ashtad got a bunch of arrows refunded. The elemental counts as mounted vs. foot due to its aerial advantage, and everone (bar Olaf, who used his shield to guard his eyes) attacks at -2 due to sand blindness.

There's only room for six players to melee the elemental in a turn; Highbough and Torben went first with spears. The elemental went next and hit Josiane for (2d6-1=) 4 hp. Torben and Wen rolled high but their weapons didn't affect it, Josiane and Highbough missed, Dieter hit it for 5 hp. Olaf and Helmut got the unlucky rolls and were squeezed out of the fight due to space.

Dieter (F5) hp 22 12
Josiane (C5) hp 16 12

Taking orders for turn 4...

Desmond examines the structure and the lead platform. He looks for anything that might indicate how it works or if it is broken and might somehow be fixed.

Dieter still presses his attack. "If I can hit it, I can kill it!" he thinks, knowing that attempting to talk is useless.
