Re: (069) Pilgrims & Practicalities

Very good.

With the refectory approaching something like a "usable" state, Josiane, Dorgan, and Helmut take half the pilgrims into the adjacent dormitories where they begin on the seemingly insurmountable task of clearing out the wretched piles of rubbish and the stink left by wolves. The straw mattresses and linnen are filthy and teeming with fleas--much of it will have to be burned, or at least given a very serious workout in the laundry. The floor could probably do with a divine scrubbing also...

Re: (069) Pilgrims & Practicalities

Meanwhile, Hiridhren and Beringar begin their dutiful perimeter march, pacing the lengths of the refectory and tapping the walls, then into the passage to the dorms, the dorms themselves, and into the passages beyond. It is tedious going and soon Hiridhren will be challenged to remember all his figures...

Josiane sets about salvaging what can be salvaged, disposing of the rest, then she's down on her hands and knees mopping the flithy floor, smiling contentedly and singing quietly one of the happier hymns she knows...

Re: (069) Pilgrims & Practicalities

Dorgan wants nothing to do with either fleas or scrubbing floors so he'll stick to guard duty and keep a close watch on things, Mads Cold Iron Axe in hand.

| If we want to advance a calendar day, Dorgan will make sure a couple pilgrims get put on supper duty, so there's a meal awaiting the group. Then he'll get a fire going (presuming there are fireplaces in the dorms) and get everyone situated for the evening. He will figure out two man watches with the other members of the party.

Dorgan & Beringar
Josiane & Helmut
Hiridhren & Valorn
Ulric & Dorgan (he'll take first and last watch)

We can slide in Desmond, Armando and Ashtad if they bunk with us. |

| Yes, Dhren lacks paper :( I could have him make scratch-mark 'numerals' in the elfin language every 10', showing only the 'tens' place (1, 2, 3, etc) but then there is still nothing to map with. I need to prepare better next time! He will simply have to do his best for now. Also, I'm fine with Dhren's position in the watch list. |

"Hmm, this will really assist nothing, with no writing tools about. And we don't seem to be finding any hidden doors or such, either. Still, I believe we should see this task through."

As Dhren continues, he will call out to the others. "Does anyone have any paper and a quill? I could begin making a map here if I could use some. Also, no signs of any hidden places as of yet."

The search continues (considering that he still has wall-space left to check...)

| Helmut could do with time to process the heady events of recent days (ie level up), perhaps following a philosophical discussion with The Saint to guide him... |

| Anyone else from this group need a full night of rest? We can go with three watches. |

| Hiridhren can stand two watches if need be. He doesn't need a full night's rest for any particular reason than having one. |

Re: (069) Pilgrims & Practicalities

This labor continues for some time...

| Just waiting to see if the others decide to bunk down here too, then we can fast forward thru the night, and possibly several nights, depending on what other works need to get done... |

Re: (069) Pilgrims & Practicalities

Desmond leads Armando and Ashtad into the dormitories.

"We secured the front door and gathered up the materials used for the crossbow traps the wolf priests set. The other crossbows are by the front door because we couldn't move them all. If we can get or make a supply of bolts for them, we have the start of an armory for the place."

Desmond looks around and compliments everyone on their hard work. "After a bit of Elven rations, I'm ready for a good night's sleep."

| Ways, what were the exact quantities of wire and pulleys/wheels we found? For inventory purposes...
