The company all make to scramble through the gap in the keep wall, looking for the shelter of the courtyard as the Giant hurls a massive rock across the canyon (1d20=5) but its aim is ungainly and the great rock smashes into the pillars at the base of the bridge, splintering stone and smashing the remains of the bridge apart! The burning timbers tumble into the ravine along with a shower of rock and dust as the Giant bellows is frustration.

Pelenwin and Dieter are the last of the company scamper through the eroded gap and into the relative safety of the courtyard...

The layout of this gatehouse appears much like that of Saxxon's keep -- across the ravine. There are four corner towers of dubious integrity. There are two door which enter the ruinous buildings -- one to the left and one to the right. The buildings themselves are not in sound condition. Knee high weeds grow up along the walls, and there are numerous holes in the shingle roof. The windows which look into the rooms are broken, and the space inside appears dark and ill used.

Ahead, the portcullis is half-open.

The portcullis facing the bridge (and Saxxon's keep) is fully closed. The portcullis leading out into the open realms to the south is half-open.

If the Ogre keep is a mirror image of Saxxon's keep, then Highbough would have to enter one of the buildings and find the winch mechanism in order to close the keep's front door as well. Doing so would more or less seal the company into the keep. Is this what Highbough intends?

"Man I have short legs so lets go now! The rain will aid our escape also.", says Wibert.
Wibert will start to leave taking the safest way out of here to stay under cover.

OOC: It has been raining, is it still?

It rained most of the night, but cleared in the morning. The ground is muddy and there are puddles of water dotted about. But it is not raining right now.

Highbough will not pull the lever to lower the portcullis at this time; he just wants to find it, in case we need it. He is skeptical about the proposal to abandon Olaf and Victor and attempt to outrun wolf-riders over the muddy ground. Better to play cat-and-mouse in the tunnels where the giant cannot follow, he thinks...
