"Very well," Dieter says. "But I may need assistance; I'm not sure if I can climb out on my own."

If his rope loop is back, he'll wriggle into it (so it's under his arms) and give the tug to have it hauled up.

OOC: Some may note that Dieter is not normally one for an admission of weakness; clearly these shadows have affected him.

Wen utters his incantations while Dieter is hauled up the chute, but he has no response from the sword other than a vague sense of resentment.

Meanwhile the shadows lurk...

"Quick, Wen, you next!" Meanwhile, Armando judges his odds of climbing the wall out of the pit, should it suddenly become necessary ...

Wen looks around and nods, "thank you". He would quickly loop the rope around his waste and through his legs making a simple "swiss harness". "All ready down here!" he would call out and give the rope a tug.

Armando fidgets as he awaits the return of the rope. As soon as it appears, he'll signal to Josiane to approach and prepare for ascent.

OOC :: At this point, we might either (a) have Armando ascend first to the ledge above the pit and then have Josiane similarly ascend, and from there both get hauled up the chute, or (b) both Armando and Josiane attempt to be hauled up simultaneously, or (c) one gets hauled to the top first, and then the second. Thoughts? ::

| The bottom end of the chute isn't really a "ledge" per se. It enters the pit at about a 40 degree angle... so while it's possible to dangle there precariously (with the support of a good rope), it wouldn't be easy to sit there unassisted. Of course, an agile cat-burglar type person could now go and achieve exactly this and make me look foolish... ;) |

Josiane pulls back slowly to the bottom of the chute, watching the shadows like a hawk.

"Lord Armando; you next," she says quietly; "Although I ask that you leave me a light before you ascend. If I am left in the dark with these abominations I fear it will go ill with me."

Armando peers around the chamber at the eerily skulking shadows. "Perhaps we might both go up at once ... ?"

The empty rope comes slithering down again... who will it be?
