Very well. Desmond gathers up the last bit of wire he wants and moves to procuring some brass pulleys.

Once the gossamer-thin line is collected, Desmond begins the teeeeedious task of unscrewing tiny brass screws with the equivalent of a paperclip...

This, too, seems to take. For. Ever.

"Oi, this'd better be worth it," Desmond mumbles to himself (or to Mondes, one can never be sure these days) as he unscrews the first tiny brass pulley from a crossbow.

Desmond removes the final screw from the second pulley, then takes a brief moment to admire his haul.

"Sixty feet of wire and two brass pulleys. Not bad for a few minutes of work (even though it seemed like days). We'll have to come back here once we get The Gustave sorted out and pick up the rest of it, Mondes. Maybe we'll even give a bit to the Gooch, if he asks nicely!" Desmond says with a wink.

| Inventory updated. |

Once the wire and pulleys have been secured in their pack, they pick up the two torches and move down the hallway that heads north by northeast. If it becomes necessary to light one of the torches, Desmond will do so. And they will both keep an eye out for more torches - used or new - as they move through the darkened passages.

Once they hit the intersection that continues north or turns west, they will continue north, thinking it might be better to check everything out on the main level before heading down to the lower level.

Desmond/Mondes packs his pack, then lights a half spent torch and navigates the austere passages of the abbey, quiet as you like...

It is indeed unseen territory... at least as far as Desmond/Mondes is concerned.

The passage is narrow--single file--and seems to curve to the left; doubtless following the curve of the outer wall. A little way along they spy a closed door to the left, while the passage continue on, vanishing in its leftward curve in the darkness ahead.
