A warm fire and a bit of sleep have put Dieter back in his usual good humour. He'll sharpen and oil his sword and roam the perimeter of our tiny enclave, ever alert to any attack.

Other than that, he'll try to keep as quiet as he can.

The rain abates, and then slowly, the wind does too. All that remains is the intermittent dripping of the leaky roof.. and the slow crackle of the fire as it burns down...

Eventually the pair on watch decide it must be time for Koch and Highbough to take their turn. Desmond had volunteered to join the third watch also, but the poor little fellow looked so ill that even Victor the grim reckons the Halfling would be better off getting a decent night's rest...

"Nuthin' to report," grumbles Victor as Highbough and Koch rise for the third watch, before he and Dieter get back into their bedrolls...

Time seems to pass incredibly slowly, but at long last the sky outside begins to grey, and then orange as the pre-dawn finally comes.

It is a crisp dawn. The rain and wind have died down, but there is a lot of mud and standing water outside, and there is a frost over everything.

The company begin to awake.

Both Gustave and Desmond are feeling distinctly better than they did yesterday (back to full strength and dexterity, but still permanently afflicted by a -1 constitution penalty).

What to do today?

Gustave crawls from his pile of mouldy blankets into the crisp dawn, feeling markedly improved after his extended rest. Exercising his arms experimentally, he regards his waking companions, and coughs.

"Gentlemen", he begins, "a new days dawns, to what shall we direct our purpose?"

"We have not been visited this night. What does this mean?", he ponders, scratching his now well stubbled (but, stylishly so) chin.
"I say our enemy is weakened, and now may well be the time to finish him. Moreover, we still have a dwarf to recover..."

He looks around, suddenly confused, then sniffs at his shoulder with obvious distaste, "...though let us make it swift, as I at least am in urgent need of a bath."

"What supplies have we left?" grumbles Victor when he arises... and begins picking through his own pack...

Of the store of 37 Man days of rations which were stowed in the cart, 19 days worth were partly ruined in the rain, and then turned into Wibert's dreaded gruel. 18 days of edible supplies then remained.

Wibert's more successful vegetable soup made up approximately one third of last night's meal, but the company is 12 members strong, and so consumed 8 days worth of supplies, leaving a 10 days worth in the general store.

In addition to these, Gustave still carries supplies for 4 days, Andaros 7, Wibert 2, Desmond 5, and Victor 3 days worth. All other supplies have been consumed or ruined.

So the total quantity of supplies remaining to the company are fit for 29 Man days. With 12 of you, this should be enough to last a further 2 and a half, or maybe three, days all told.
